Distributed Database Testing!

I've made a COPY of this place for testing with the distributed MySQL database thing that lucifer found. Play with it some, make sure thing (mostly) work.

WARNING. NO CHANGES THERE WILL BE SAVED. DON'T POST ANYTHING IMPORTANT.

Also, you might want to log out of here before you login there. And I'm serious if you accidently post there you'll have to copy & paste it here yourself.

And also don't do anything with the uploads/downloads. At all.

POST ANY ERRORS HERE.

Changes on one of those links should be availble on the other. That's what we're testing. Those are two physically seperate machines at my house.

You may get taken to random sites. This is cause I had to not put in an absolute server name into phpbb. When this happens hit the back button and click on the forum index link. Should skip around it.

Browsing both works fine, but when I login (enter my ID and password, hit "Login"), I'm sent off to a URL starting with this:

http://~fcs/af/armagetronforums/index.php

Edit: D'oh, now I understand. I'm logged in anyway and can restart browsing from the root node.
Edit2: seems to work fine.

What exact versions of the software do you have to install to become a node here?

As near as I can work out, it's Apache2, PHP4, and MySQL 5.1. (And then a copy of the forums.)

Something special will need to be done so that avatars and files uploaded to one node propegate to the others.

The main forums is now running on a distributed data base. Still setting up the 2nd access point. This should be interesting

I didn't have major problems so far. During the transition, it couldn't reach the database server. After that, I got this once again.

Cause I had to restart the local web daemon for the new vhost and that's what caused that bit.

As for the mail server bit... I think I know how to fix that.

The mail error didn't happen again after your last post. Before that, another one of the errors revealed 2020's email address, but I had that anyway.

Reloading doesn't help, it seems the DNS cache on the PC I'm working on is overly conservative. Half of the time, master1 is unreachable because the cache hasn't picked up a recently changed IP.

I still need to work out a way to get the file uploads to propegate. I've got an idea or two floating around tho...
