tweeked the lightcycle some more

Post by edd »

I have tweeked the cycle model a little more, the overall proportions have been changed slightly to make it closer to the original from the movie. I have also reduced the poly count to 322 polys.

I have posted it here with my movie pack. hope you like it.

sorry people, I should have waited and posted this one instead. I have reduced the cycle to 312 polys now. still aiming for 300, but not quite there yet.

1 poly thing!

Post by edd »

Iceman here you go, a 1 poly triangle. I can nly get the mapping on one side, but i think thats ok for your puposes. It makes no difference on my machine, I am getting <>60 fps with my 312 poly model and with this 1 poly triange. A friend of mine gets <>140 fps with my 312 poly cycle on his apple ibook?

it was tried before but there was a problem with the model, for some strange reason it only worked in a local game and crashed an online game ???? :?

I tried the 312 poly cycle first and got an avg. 25 fps using arma 0271

I then tried the 1 poly cycle and got an increase of about 11% which was suprising as I thought it would be a lot higher

was funny to see the cycle invisible on the left side :D

I find I get higher fps with moviepack turned off but im not sure why that is ??

edd are you able to make a non-moviepack cycle with a similar look for the texture folder ? that would be a good test and would look great for distro. 8) 8)

non movie pack cycle

Post by edd »

I have been trying to make a non movie pack cycle, but i can't get anything to convert or export to a .mod format. if only it was any other 3d format it would be easy. Is there any talk of adding other format support in future releases? This has probably been talked about has'nt it!!!

In 0.2.8, you can use a moviepack style cycle and texture with non-moviepack style walls and stuff. You just put bike.ase/png into the models/textures folder and delete the standard .mod files.

The model format is likely to change completely in the future, but we'll keep the ase support around so we won't break all the old moviepacks.
