(Didn't know where to post it I could be wrong but didn't want to post it in the fortress section because it could be considered advertising =X)

But anyways, this server is going to give good pings to all Americans...It's based in Texas smack dab in the southern middle of US..would be better if it was based in Wisconsin or something for those Vanhayes and wrtlprnft's out there in Canada

I live in Virginia and I get anywhere between 30-50 ping with 1.5 mb DSL to give you guys an idea of your ping (The server is run on a super computer

) The European players with 1.5 mb DSL will run around 150 ping.

But yeah the server is fixed to 30 speed and 50 rubber unlike it was up this afternoon with 350 rubber lol! Its fixed now so enjoy

50 rubber? Not interested. That's 10x what z-man's fortress server has.

Speaking of which, I noticed z-man gave in and upped cycle_rubber in that server from 1 to 5, despite the former console message about pleas for more rubber. What's up with that? (Not that it's all that important to me since I don't play that, but I'm curious.)

I think psyko is referring to what the HUD displays.

Maybe it really is 5? If it isn't count on me not being there

Err, the rubber setting of 5 is there for months now... I don't even remember CVS fortress having any other rubber setting.

And don't the newer clients all display rubber like it is in the configuration item? I thought the multiplying by 10 was only in 0.2.7...

5.0 new rubber = 50 old rubber...american fortress is pretty much a clone except hosted in america

wrtl...before rc1 came out it was 50 rubber (but really equal to 5.0 rubber now)

The 'old' rubber was also 5. The real difference is in the HUD.

The very first test runs may have been with the default of 1, but I didn't have the console message then.

there was certainly a change of some kind which made the rubber different. There was no way on earth you could DG at the start under the old setings. If it wasn't a change in the rubber settings, then maybe a code change?

It was 1 for awhile. I remember it being 2 when the join message said "quit whining about rubber". Then one day it was suddenly 5, and several of us commented that z-man sold out.

One caveat for the american fortress
infibrakes
pretty weird, and kinda replaces huge rubber if you use it all right. I'm not sure if there's still infibrakes, though.
All in all, good server, seeing as it's a carbon copy of cvs, and damn, it's about time i can play without having to underthrow all my turns to account for a slide.

Psyko is there a possibility to set up a spoon server too? Would be nice if we could like.. have an american server to play on too.
