Stumbled upon this while browsing, and wondered if anyone got round to scripting something that generates custom arma images on the fly?
If not, and enough people are interested I would be happy to write something that allows people to specify bike and trail colours and then generate an image in the requested colours with the requested text in the trail. This image could then be used in sigs, for page titles, links or whatever.
I have done quite a bit of work generating dynamic images in php, and am pretty sure I could do this without too much difficulty.
Anyone interested in such a thing let me know, and if enough interest, I will do something. If its been done already, or nobody but me thinks it is a cool idea, then let me know too, and I'll STFU!

It's an interesting idea. Something like that would best be a signature banner for Armagetron in general though. Like, a bike with "Armagetron Forums" being its tail, or "Armagetron Advanced." Not written on the tail but the tail blends to it, it blends to tail in the space and then back. Or something.

Tank - Not sure what you mean exactly. I was thinking about something like the images in the thread in the link, which I know I could achieve quite comfortably, but if you have something different in mind, if you could post a mock up made in photoshop or something then I could certainly try to mimic it.

If you are looking for something spectacularly beautiful for a banner link, then I am no artist, and maybe somebody who is more of a pencil squeezer (fonkay?) would be more able to produce something?
As an illustration of what I am thinking, I would be able to use your example above, and a suitable rough handwriting style font, to create a script (idea.php) so that instead of the usual image link, you would use idea.php?text='ARMA'. The resultant image would be your bike and trail graphic, with the selected text in the trail, the only difference being it wouldn't be your own handwriting, but look similar. all the bike and trail graphics would be identical. Using idea.php?text='Forum' would create an identical bike/trail, but with "Forum" in the trail instead.
Any base image at all could be used, and my script would just colourise the image and add the caption to the trail. The resultant images could be used as signatures, hyperlinks, banners, or whatever else people can think of. Using such images as links works quite well, as it is easy to get uniform look to all links without farting about with photoshop for ages - you just create the image once, then let the script deal with putting the relevant caption on it.
