Luke-Jr wrote:Yes, RTFWiki. It's in there. If people would read it, it would solve a lot of annoyances.
The Wiki does not say anything about the filepath correlation to the <Resource> tag elements,
It does, at http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/ ... d#Resource
It was a bit vague (though it did specify the filepath syntax), but I just now fixed that up.
z-man wrote:IIRC, and it does not give this little, useful info:
Just run the included sortresources.py script inside your resource folder and it will automatically sort the files where they belong.
Hmm, might I suggest we split the sortresources script into two? One which simply prints the resource's proper filepath and another one to copy a directory full into a structure.
z-man wrote:And the Wiki, by its nature, is constantly changing. You can't expect everyone to read everything there on every release.
My understanding is that documentation-specific parts of the Wiki are being made into formal documents for each release, are they not?
z-man wrote:Luke, could you include the resources in the repository?
Will do, as soon as stupid SF lets me cvs up...

Yes :) "sortresources.py -n" should already do just the printing, but due to a small bug I'll fix in a moment, you have to call "sortresources -v -n".

No, I would not know how to do this right, considering that the Wiki is missing version tags. Suggestions and mirror scripts welcome.

Take the resources from the release tarball further up, please, or run "make dist" and use the generated archive. The DTD path in the maps isn't rewritten when you just build from CVS and the maps won't work with anything but a CVS build. Ignore my ramblings if your comment had nothing to to with getting the the resources from the armagetronad module :)

Ah, ok... I suggest documenting, then ;)

I thought it was already being done. My main complaint re MediaWiki is its obvious lack of branching and tagging... which is why I'd like to make a CMS/Wiki based on Subversion or CVS, preferably compatible with MediaWiki content.

I was planning the 'make dist' method, but the tarball one is easier. Thanks for the suggestion ;)

Luke: as always, sortresources.py -h :)

Nemo: Right on with that bug link, I had this as a side effect of the change I made there, entering and leaving the ingame menu could work around it. I fixed it some days ago; only b0_2_8 should have been affected. Can you acknowledge that?

Seems fine so far. Just a couple hours with it, but figured I'd let you know I'm using it.

Just started using the new client and I'm running into an odd chat bug. Everytime I'm composing a chat message, the beacon goes out and my bike goes back to manual, even though I'm still typing. I can't determine why it's doing that :?:

Is this in a local game or internet game?

There seems to be a bug with ALLOW_CONTROL_DURING_CHAT. If it is on, the triangle doesn't even show up (in a local game). I wouldn't be against removing this option, it has been less than useful.

In my case it's been on the LAN game. It happens when I'm playing on Shrunkland, which is a on another box in my house.

Hmm, Shrunkland hasn't got that feature enabled. Nemo is right, it is horribly unusable right now because of the bug that disables the chatbot completely once it is enabled. I fixed that bug (must have crept in), but I'll disable ALLOW_CONTROL_DURING_CHAT for 0.2.8.0 and will try to fix the other problem later: if you have bound a shift key to a turn command, you'll turn whenever you want to capitalize a word. Control needs to be limited to the function keys and special system keys (printscreen, pause,...), not all keys that don't generate a letter like it is now.

Changes up to rc4 have been merged back into b0_2_8 and the trunk. There were more conflicts, resolving them took me basically the whole evening. Time to finish this.

Seems to me like we're just about ready for release.

Are there any outstanding bugs where the thing won't install, find config files, or otherwise crash? If the answer is "no", I say we're ready for release.
