I read a feature request on sourceforge, and it is a good idea. If you die early in the round and put armagetronad in the background, you will no longer have to worry about missing the start of the next round. You will receive a notification about the important events (it will display on of top every window)
When you start up the game, and go into a local game (yea, I have to fix that...) Growl will ask you to be installed. Choose "install" and it will open up your system preferences to the growl pane, you must turn it on. Currently the only events are: Round ended, round started, match ended, match started, countdown 1, countdown 2, and countdown 3. You can disable the events you don't want in the Growl preferences pane (among many other things).
Stuff that will be added:
* Chat Message notification: if someone mentions your name or send you a private message.
* It is very dependent on the default server messages.

oh that's a good feature for those people who cannot wait until starting the next round.
i didn't use Growl, but i'll get it and try using Armagetronad-Growl.
you always bring some news when you appear on the grid.
that's the sign of something changed.
if Armagetronad-Growl notifies "nemostultae appears on the master list",
then i'll check this forum or sourceforge.

Oops, it looks like the download in my OP will only work on my system (damn zerolink...). I'll build one that works for others.

i downloaded the latest version of Growl,
and now using Armagetron-Growl supported.
it looks pretty nice, the notification dialog shows up at the right of my screen.
there are several themes included by default.
oh wel, it shows...
- Match Started
- Countdown 1, 2, 3.
- Round Started
- Round Ended
- Match Ended
you can set what you want it to show up or not as you like.
just dropped 80 frames to 60 for me that time. (armagetron-growl works in windoid mode only, sure.),
but i don't mind, it's usuful. then just switch fullscreen to windoid when i am deleted.
once i tried to attatch speech to all notification, but it didn't recognize.
yet i played just only in local game.
i'll keep using it and won't get bored till next round.
