Is the new cycle trail texture good?

I'm won't do a poll like this for the cycle texture, the sky and the title. Nobody has complained about them yet. Feel free to start your own poll about them.

Well, this is not as much support for the new texture as I had hoped for, but at least a majority is not unhappy with it. It'll stay.

Seems to me that more people are not unhappy with the old one?

is it my misapprehension
but does a total of 10 votes
indicate that most players aren't checking this forum...?
or is it just this topic that hasn't caught their eye?

I used some creative counting. The people not unhappy with the new texture are the votes for it and the "don't care" votes combined.

2020: Ten total votes is quite the average here. Yes, most players don't check by here.

What exactly are you thinking? Do you think having more than 1/2 is valid after messing with the numbers like that? The >1/2 rule only works when the denominator = the sum of all numerators.

It's not 1/2. The ratio is 7/4, so 1 3/4. If you want a majority vote, you need a ratio greater than 1, not 1/2.

Heh. I guess I should have finished my post. :)

in voting, 1/1 is the fraction 1/2. :) So when you translate the 1:1 ratio to a spoken human language, you'll usually translate it as "an equal amount of votes for and against", which can be described mathematically as either 1:1 or 1/2, depending on how you define the denominator.

So you're right, but the nitpick is just that, a nitpick. :) It's correct to look at 7:4, where 7 is "votes for" and 4 is "votes against" and summarize it as greater than half voted for, because 7 > 10 (total votes) / 2

Edit: go ahead and nitpick that 7+4=11 if you'd like, I don't really care. :) It's a post, not a math test.

i stilll don't like the trail

hmmm...
i don't want to harp on but...
wouldn't it be sensible to have two or three startup versions...?
eg
1
the one decided by committee by players which is the one we have
2
z-man or tank-program's choice
3
minimalist
in order not to offend those with taste

i mean
it is all window-dressing after all...

Dood, just change them manually. It's as easy as a drag-and-drop. Need that be better pointed out and explaned in the included documentation? Maybe. Then again, not many people seem to read that, for some inconceivable reason. But whatever; it's easily customizable, and as much effort as some new players put into finding out how to have a dual colored bike/tail and dual colored names (before they've even learned to play), one would think they shouldn't have a big problem with customizing their graphics. ::shrug::

Sorry, no multiple packages. It's too much work on every release, and people would not know which one to download. Once we have real support for skins (can we call them Aaarghpacks?), sure, a reasonalbe set of default skins covering several tastes can be included.
