I am guessing this is why my server doesn't show up on the list for most people? I need this fixed ASAP. If it is something on my end then tell me what needs fixin'.

Did you open ports for your server ?

If you did not forward or open your server's ports then you'd have to do that.
Note: hosting a server on a DSL requires quite an amount of upstream. (about 6-8kByte/client).

If you have a dedicated server and know what you are doing, just ignore me.

To help we'd also need to know the armagetron version.

If the server's ip adress can be posted here that would also help ;) to get track the problem faster.

The ... are a lot of lines that look exactly like the one above and below, except for the timestamps. The "Received login" lines are the points where your server makes contact with the master successfully, and the "Updated server" lines that don't directly follow one of these are when one of the other masters successfully pinged your server. So from the end of the master servers, everything seems to be in order.

Your logs are in a strange order, the "Sending my server info" should not appear if login fails... I may have a wrong recollection about what the server does, it may try to send the info anyway.

Wait, that's MicroBusCity's IP and port. If your server runs on the same machine and is supposed to listen on a different port, then NOT everything is in order on the master server side. The master server logs say about all servers from that IP and a different port:

Code: Select all

When I had Breakfast in Hell running last week, I couldn't see it in the master server list either, but others could. So, um, are you sure nobody else can see it? (Stumped me, it was the first time it had ever happened to me)

Question, can you read? Go and read my first post again. I said most - it's even underlined. Only a few people can see it.

Question, when you ask for help and people throw out what they have, is it normally considered polite to say "thank you, but that doesn't help", or to talk trash?

In case you were wondering, these are the only log entries in my master server's logs:

Code: Select all

[2006/01/03 08:26:43] [17] Received new server: 72.36.191.138:4535
[2006/01/03 08:26:48] [17] Updated server: 72.36.191.138:4535
[2006/01/03 08:26:48] [17] Acknowledged server: 72.36.191.138:4535
Of course, you didn't say which port it was running on. The :4534 server shows up numerous times, and z-man said that was MBC.

Sorry, I was frustrated at something else and I guess it showed. Didn't mean to talk that way.

Yeah, the port is 4535. That's pretty much the only difference between mine and MBC's.

I can't explain why login would fail. Your port settings are not relevant there, the source port is random. I'm not in the mood for experiments or telling you to use rc1, so I just added your server to the list manually and it got picked up just fune. As long as it stays up, it will stay on the list.

OK, Thanks. Will a three second restart take it off the list?

No, some hours of downtime are required for that.

If you want to try something, replace armagetron.kicks-ass.net with master2.armagetronad.net in var/master.srv, this will connect you to a different master.
