allright, i set up a new server, where i think players with a ping <= 200 can have a good game. the server is germany located, so german players will have very good pings (my ping is about 50 most of the time). but actually that doesnt matter much anymore.
the server is named "Path of the Tao", because it is heavily focused on martial arts/dogfights, and it features:
- a circular map: the map is a small circle for up to 16 players, starting from a distance around the center, looking at the wall.
- own walls accellerate 0.5, enemy walls accellerate 2.0: with this setting, grinding the enemy wall is encouraged, and 180 degree exploiters have a disadvantage.
- fight-focused scoring: a kill gets you 1 point, staying alive gets you 0 points. that means you have to kill to score. killing yourself, no matter which way, costs you no points. 10 points = match winner.
- strong brake: quite similar to the brake on the dark syndicate server, this brake allows you to to slow down to 10mph, has a fast refill and a slow depletion rate. this brake allows people to camp a while while being closed in (booh? read further), and also encourages microfights, that is: fights in a very small and tight area.
- 160m walls: non-infinite walls make it impossible to close someone in in a large area, holds off wallcreeps, reduces the round time, and encourages close combat (which are great to watch!).
- a rubber of 100: helps with some of the speeds you encounter, and also, being slow is being rewarded.
- walls stay for 10s: allows you to go in after a closed in opponent to finish him while he is trapped in your maze. if you kill him, all you have to do is wait 10s and you can get out again. there is no permanent trapping. the 10s are for draw kills. i tried permanent walls, but they allow camping.
- trainer bot: i set up a trainer bot for single players, "LaoTsu", which is a bit tricky to beat.
all features have been chosen for these factors:
- allows fast and close combat (microfights)
- prevents longtime camping and too large boxes
- high pingers can play it (not all styles tho)
newbie helped me tuning the settings for several hours. thanks to him

allright, happy fighting. might be not your cup of tea, but i found these to be very entertaining settings. i set this server up after playing hundreds of rounds on armagetron.de/renegade, so you could say that this is something like the anti-renegade.
