my back ground used to be solid black, then I skinned my gui with window blinds, decided that it sucks, now my background is solid gray #303030 (same as my site background color)

my desktop.

The desktop icon are from Mandrake. i'm so often using my desktop (I had to find it back just to take the screenshot, that is how often I use it ;) )taht I've never considered waisting time to remove them. But I had in Gentoo and the Mandrake I had before. So someday...

The background color is actually red:30, green:9 and blue:1. It makes for a nicer, softer "black" than true black. Also, it makes for a nice and smooth transition from this specific picture.

Edit: I love the french heritage in my culture. One part that I like about it is the "bande dessinées", which is really not the same as cartoon. I have used a few images from cartoons over time on my background. One very notable is the latest attachement. I used that one on my laptop for a period. I had drop the laptop, and the screen had a very big dead spot sligtly bigger than the characters head, with splinters reaching nearly everywhere on the screen. I was quite pissed at this. It helped a bit to have the character from the background staring at the dead zone on the screen.

this is not what my desktop looks like; it's my desktop + x.org/kde3.4 translucency.
my computer is actually too slow for it, but good enough for a screenshot.

you see, windows user: you can get inpressive exe-candy and transparency etc BEFORE vista !!!
this is just a small sample. with 1 transparent window...

I just realized this is the first desktop I've run in awhile without translucent menus. Why did I do that? :( But the panel is translucent, so it blends smoothly with the background when I have no windows open.

Pre-Scriptum: If for you angels are cute and beautiful and that image is important for you, then please, skip my post. I dont want to be the one changing or ruining that for you.

---

That is one very good question Sab.

When I found this picture, I was actually searching for images under the theme of "Warlock". I found it on one of those sites where people publish their own work. The girl/woman who made this particuliar image explained how she used an actual (possibly just) image of a bird and photoshoped it in the final image.

But for me, she is an angel. Not the woussy kind that look like Brad Pitt and dress in suits. The kind that go and behead all the first born and walk back to heaven drenched in blood. The kind that makes sulfur rain over a city. Vengefull God's angels!

In that bunch, she is some kind of a new recruit, what ever that mean for immortal beings. Gardian angel could be a way to describe what she does. None of that taping on the shoulder, whispering "you should do this and that" crap. More like "God sent me to check over you, but frankly, its quite a demotion from the other assignments, so dont you go making mistakes, cause you wont make two of them.". So yes, she for me she is "Celle qui protege". I just dont know who.

Anyway, the 2 last paragraphs are my own interpretation of the picture. And if you dont beleive me, zoom on her face. There is no eye in that socket.
