You could lay a piece of plastic wrap flat across the glass, or use another thin sheet of glass or clear plastic if you want to avoid crinkles. Also, you get a better scan if you place a towel or something over your head (unless you want it to look crazy, which is also a viable option).

This is a good method for scans of other kinds of objects as well. One can get rather creative with it.

Ah, well, you see, I view pretty much all organic compounds as food. So oil, gasoline, dogs, cats, mice, people, all are potential dishes that might appear on my dinner plate. I am an "omnivore".
