My first Crack Pipe experience

Post by spirit »

First of all congrats to that server Lucifer!
Really great and lots of fun to play.
Just a little tricky as you can see on the pic. Somehow I got the feeling I was kind of - lets say lost. :?
Is it only possible to play with beta_1? I went in with beta_2..... perhaps thats why.

I also dont think that it´s necessary to add an accelerator there is loads of possibilities to gain speed. :D

Quotation Top Gun:
Maverick: I feel the need...
Maverick, Goose: ...the need for speed!

Thank you. :)

As for the beta1/beta2 thing, there's still dust settling on the server. It's still a very recent upgrade and it looks like I'm gonna have to repeat it (and it might be painful).

As for getting lost on that map, I made the map, I know every inch (meter) of it, and I get lost on it too. ;) Just keep in mind that 8 tunnels in the center lead to spawn rooms, and of the remaining 8 something like 3-4 of them dead end. The rest go to the outer ring. And the spiral is shaped like the Mayan symbol for chaos.

EW! Sounds like a lot of work still to come.

Ok ok I´ll try to remember  but the word "chaos" describes it quite well hehehe... Gotta get into it slowly.

Another thing:
1.) Where can I activate that little map on the right bottom of the screen as shown on Jonathan´s screenshot. That would have been quite helpful.
2.) As I was playing with bots connection and graphics we ok but then Jonathan entered and all went mad....
My ping rose from a stable 200 to over 1000 shortly and than jumped between 200 and 400.
The rim walls somehow disappeard and then suddenly appeared again and I was dead after 5 seconds.
Was quite annoying.
:x

It's in CVS. Just #define HUD_MAP before every #ifdef HUD_MAP: at the top of gHud.cpp (this is important! nemo put it in some header but the first check is before any #include) and in gWall.h. You can use the bitmask SIMPLE_MAP to choose a mode. 1: Draw the map in the bottom right corner. 2: Draw a big map in the center. 3: Both (duh).
