Katrina
Actually, it was the government doing it themselves. Why else didn't Bush respond quickly to the disaster? He was testing the Democrats in charge down there, of course! According to Alex Jones, the government's had weather and earthquake machines since the 60s, and they're not afraid to use it!
(random Alex Jones memory there, heh)

For crying out loud...
Every time this comes up, all you ever do is state your opinions and say the other person is wrong. It seems each side of the argument tends to belittle the other here, and I just can't accept that anymore. In fact the large portion of the people who participate in these conversations seem to criticize anywho believes. There is nothing wrong with believing. I don't want to have to take any action on this, but you must realize that the criticism you put anyone you believes through right now seems very discriminative, and to an undue extent. I ask that everyone let each other be, or stop being mean.

Um, tank? Which one or group of us are you talking to?

Yes, God uses acts of nature to punish people and to warn them. I believe it was the homosexuality in that city. They had a big homosexual movement just before that. The mayor of the city and the big shots of that place started to promote it. So, God did like he has done many other times in the US, he gave a warning. There have been many times that a major earthquake/fire/storm because of bad major decisions, which mostly have to do with the promoting of homosexuality or abortion. I will right down some of this stuff later today if I get a chance.microbus wrote:So, Dest, if Katrina was God's wrath, then why? He doesn't like the Mardi Gras? Or is it Bourbon Street? What's next, tidal wave on England because He doesn't like the Queen? Or a major earthquake in Moscow because he doesn't like their politics?
It was a freaking act of nature, which happened because of various
factors, including but not limited to, air currents, ocean currents,
low and high pressure systems, and the earth's rotation.
Edit: I don't believe wrath is a good word for this. It was more like a warning, an awakening call.

COOL! When will he attack The Netherlands? Maybe when there's the Gay-parade (no filter, it's actually called that) Come on, get over it man... We allowed gay-marriage years ago and nothing has happened here... And there are more homosexuals here than anywhere else..Self_Destructo wrote:Yes, God uses acts of nature to punish people and to warn them. I believe it was the homosexuality in that city. Get a hold on yourself SD...
I'd really like to see a statistical analysis of gay population vs. natural disasters (with all ambient influences factored out, of course, comparing hurricane frequency of Alaska and Florida is plain useless). The problem with saying anything on the line of "The people there did X, so God punished them" is that as long as you don't do statistics to back up your claims, X can be anything. Perhaps it was because they were black? After all, many disasters happen in Africa. Perhaps the real target of God's Wrath were the oil platforms, and NO was only collateral damage? I'd suspect the latter; why else would Katrina have lost power and changed direction before hitting NO? Without analysis, you're guessing. You may as well sacrifice goats. Or read horoscopes.
I'm quite interersted in this, because if it turns out to be true, Cologne may be next on the list. We have many homosexuals and also a big Mardi Gras. And a flood-friendly river.
Tank: Of course, everyone has the fundamental right to think and believe what he wants. And to speak freely. But it's also the fundamental rights of the others to say what a huge wacko he is. And it has been done in a rather friendly way in this thread.
I also believe that any group of adult people should be allowed do do whatever they want among themselves, as long as they all want it. That's basically the extension of the free thought to groups. A publicly stated opinion that threatens this freedom absolutely needs to be objected to. And "God hates homosexuals" is a statement in that direction. Not directly, but add two or three thoughts to that and you have concentration camps for homosexuals.
Think being gay is a sin? Fine, don't be gay. See a homosexual? Tell him once "You're a sinner and you're going to hell", but leave it at that. Please. Reread that passage about throwing the first stone.
