What makes you figure that? They probably are lying to you.
There are alot of people living on USA government funding that actually are citizens of Russia and China. And where is that money going? (assuming) To terroists in disquise. That's why I think we should cut off all benefits and make everyone reapply. This would save the country alot of money and trouble overall. I think a govenor of California did this and he saved that state alot of money. And that's how they found out alot of it was going overseas.

Well then where's the sense in arming ourselves with weapons capable of making this planet utterly uninhabitable against an enemy incapable of doing the same? That's horse-sense?Self_Destructo wrote:I suppose it is kinda nuts to have some horse-sense.Oscilloscope wrote:You're so freakin' nuts, SD.
On top of it all, we have regular chemical bombs now that can do almost as much damage for a fraction of the price and with no fallout. So what's even the point of nukes, then? They made some twisted sense when they were the only weapons we could make capable of doing the kind of damage they do, but now we can build chemical bombs capable of leveling a good-sized metropolitan area in one blow. We used them in Iraq and were accused of using nukes (because some people think that it's the nuclear reaction that makes the mushroom-shaped cloud).
And what difference does it make if Russia has nukes or not, anymore? We know the domino effect was just paranoia, and we have a certain amount of wisdom about communism we didn't have. Russia no longer dominates east european politics (they may still influence them, but I don't think you can show me even one east european nation that has a puppet government for Russia). The threat of any sort of invasion from Russia is lower now than it has ever been before. Hell, the threat of the United Kingdom invading any part of Europe or the US is greater than the threat of Russia.
Who wants to go back to mutually assured destruction? Who wants to live in the shadow of certain death and complete obliteration of not just our species, but all the others on this planet as well (except the cockroaches)?
Edit: Not to mention, with current US foreign policy being what it is, nations like China need nukes to deter us from invading. Russia's not the threat anymore. The new threat in the world is US and the War on Terrorism, coming to a mosque near you.

I just find it damn funny that someone SD's age is spouting paranoid nonsense about how "the reds are coming! They're even living amongst us! We gotta get 'em!" (Does that go hand-in-hand with being a fundie?) Even most old folks who actually lived through the Cold War, who may have supported McCarthyistic ideology, have let that inanity go. (Yes, that's inanity, not insanity, but it's that too.)
Maybe BFE hasn't gotten the word yet that the Cold War is over; that Russia is living in a terrible era reminiscent of the US's Gilded Age (doubting SD knows what that means), only worse; and the only potential "threat" that China might pose is economic, seeing as they could easily put the US's balls in a vice over the huge trade deficit. (Not to mention that China is exhibiting far more state capitalism/corporatism than anything resembling communism, "pure" or otherwise.)
As for Luci advocating chemical weapons, well, that's nuts too.

? You are aware that explosive devices such as, I don't know, grenades explode through a chemical reaction? Hell, guns fire because of a chemical reaction. I was talking about "chemical explosives" compared to "nuclear explosives", the difference being that a chemical explosive (such as dynamite or C4) explodes as the result of a chemical reaction, whereas a nuclear explosive explodes as the result of a nuclear reaction.Oscilloscope wrote: As for Luci advocating chemical weapons, well, that's nuts too.
Basic high school chemistry, that is.

Alright, pardon me. I had assumed you were employing common usage of the phrase, as found in treaty and terminology, where "chemical weapons" refers to weapons that disperse toxic chemicals, as described, for example, in the Chemical Weapons Convention.
You probably should have used the term "conventional weapons" in order to avoid the confusion.

Sorry, my brain is full of chemistry right now since I've been studying it yesterday and have some more to do today, for my class is tomorrow.Oscilloscope wrote:Alright, pardon me.
