Dirty Loops - Wake Me Up (Cover)
I believe a lot has happened since the last time I posted a link of these guys.
Happened to catch them live a couple weeks ago. Super tight, flawless as far as I could tell. & amazingly, hundreds of people bought their debut album right afterwards, even though most of the audience was seemingly confused by the complexity of the music.

"Take me down to the local Winn-Dixie where the bread is green and the ...(something) is shitty." I can't remember it! That's what we used to sing to that tune.
Also, "shot with a fart and you're too late, 'cause you forgot...your gas mask." See if you can spot that one.
Yes, we were very mature back then.

Pff, kids back then. Get off ma time-shifted lawn!
That butchering of Bon Jovi is probably nothing compared to what we did back then with our at best rudimentary understanding of English, though selective memory blocked it all out now.

I will now refer to all bands of that era as Bon Jovi.Z-Man wrote:Bon Jovi

The shitty compressor they used over the track totally ruins anything that might have been good about it.Slov wrote:how heaven sounds like

Drum programming is by far the easiest element of modern electronic music production. I say this with full knowledge of extreme programming from the likes of Squarepusher, Venetian Snares, etc. And no, good programming couldn't possibly make up for how the drums were destroyed with that garbage compression. It's the sign of a rank amateur.Slov wrote:haha okaybut the drum programming makes up for that!

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Sortof offtopic but not really, does anyone here own a turntable? Or record player whatever you want to call it. I often see vinyls where I'm like damn, I'd love to listen to that... is it easy to get a thing like that work with your speakers? Be it of your pc or regular speakers.
Re: What are you listening to right now?
Back when I was a gigging DJ I had a pair of Technics 1200MKII's. I sold one just a few months ago, but still use the remaining one often, and I still buy vinyl. You are in luck, I am actually an expert in turntables. It's actually my job to sell them.Vogue wrote:Sortof offtopic but not really, does anyone here own a turntable?
The good news is, some modern turntables are easy to hook up to anything. Turntables need pre-amplification and many decks have built-in preamps. You only have to connect a pair of RCA cables into your powered speakers or amplifier. But wait, it gets better. Most new turntables also have USB ports so you can transfer vinyls directly to your computer. These built-in soundcards are usually "class-compliant" devices and don't need drivers. You can use any recording software to turn vinyls to mp3, m4a, etc...
Now, there is the matter of price. Some manufactures make very inexpensive turntables for consumers. However, there is usually a terrible trade off between price and quality. In my experience, it is better to spend just slightly more on a turntable than you can afford. The reason why is because a good, properly maintained turntable will literally last you decades, possibly the rest of your life -- and there is a lot of enjoyment to be had with it. When looking at cost versus value, I recommend something like the Audio Technica AT-LP120-USB. This deck has a lot of features that make it attractive to DJs, but the overall quality is great for anyone looking for a consumer-level turntable. It resembles a Technics 1200 clone and it also comes in black.
Stay away from suitcase-style portable decks, anything with a built-in speaker, or any turntable design that tries to be fancy. Direct drive is better than belt-drive if you want hassle-free maintenance, but if you don't mind replacing a giant rubber band once in a great while, belt-drive is fine. If you care to explain your listening environment, budget, and how much you plan to use a turntable I can find the best value (there are cheaper ones that might suit you better).
