Had a good trip?

In other news, I'm getting less and less interested in this game. There NEEDS to be another commentator that speaks nearly as much as sinewav next ladle because I'll most likely only be camerawoman, and I want to pass the twitch channel to someone who can take my place as camerawoman(or man!).

So, a few tournys later and this has stopped. Why? I loved when you guys streamed the bowl and the ladle, both were great! I know the above post says there should be another commentator, so we could maybe poll people who would be interested and take a vote? I bet there are a lot of people who would be interested in commentating for ladles and possibly other tournaments, myself included. As sine.wav was very good, we should bring this back!!

I don't have it in me to stream, but I'll give the channel info to people who want to take over and I'll gladly explain how to set it up.

Figured I'd bump this topic as it is a better place to discuss streaming than in the ladle 79 topic.

I wanted to give something to the community so a few weeks ago I tried to set up a twitch stream. At the end of my experiment, I determined that connection is the biggest factor in being able to make it work. This cannot be understated. My connection is much too slow to run a stream, even at the lowest quality.

For anyone who thinks they would like to try streaming, and has a solid internet connection, I suggest you first check your connection with a website like http://www.speedtest.net/.

After you know your connection, cross-check this spreadsheet to determine if you can stream or not:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... 0NWc#gid=0

Save yourself the trouble and do those steps first, rather than setting up a Twitch account, downloading software, setting up capture rates, etc. etc. If your connection is bad, there's no point in continuing forward.

I really hope someone picks up the torch on this project. Twitch streaming is very popular on the internet, and might even bring in new players to the game from the already established Twitch community.

In theory, I could stream tourneys. Unlikely I will ever play in them due to being a tron scrub, but my connection (125/25) should be enough to stream it. My pc is rather slow, but for Tron it should be enough. I'm rather always there as a spectator so I can give it a go.

If you want to lag 500 ms and have 30fps while playing, sure.

Wow and **** twitch. They deleted my "permanently saved" broadcasts from the previous streamed tournaments.

I've been looking into streaming. Sadly, twitch recently stopped supporting free streaming software for mac :(

Stream a pickup game and ask a couple to check your quality, if it's good, why shouldn't you? :)
Commentary is important for a good stream. Get some good commentators on TeamSpeak (or similar). I don't know about your fort knowledge and player knowledge, so decide for yourself if you wanna talk too. It's possible to be a good host without knowing too too much in detail as long as there's "experts" to provide insightful comments. At the very least, you're probably good enough to know which players to watch, most of the time ^^

I would disagree with you here. Commentary is not critical for a good stream. I don't want to scare people away from streaming because they're afraid of commentating. In this instance, we should be focusing more on making the stream actually happen, rather than making sure good commentary will be provided. You could easily substitute commentary for music to fill the void, or in this instance, armagetron sound effects.

If people really want try streaming, do a speedtest and go from there. Computer specs are important, but not nearly as crucial as connectivity.

Are they permanently lost though? I recall the streams were available to download from somewhere, so if you or someone else have them saved on HDD, why not put them on youtube?
