As of a day or two ago, I've started having troubles connecting to the master servers. I keep getting a timeout on both the servers and client (on separate machines). As far as I know, nothing was changed to cause it, and when it started I'm pretty sure I wasn't around.
If I don't share this issue with others, what would be useful to try and start figuring out what's causing it? I'm pretty much out of ideas ..
-Thanks
Edit: I should note that this isn't constant. It's off 'n on that I can or can't connect.
Master Servers
Re: Master Servers
Your not the only one in the same boat. My client was having to struggle just to connect to the master server. Once its through, going into servers and playing was easy. It first takes a while (longer than 2 minutes) before either connecting to master or disconnecting.Light wrote:As of a day or two ago, I've started having troubles connecting to the master servers. While I do state the issue also occurred to me, currently my connection to master server is totally fine. I presumed something was off with my internet, especially it was having connection problems during that period of dis/connection.

It started working for me today as well.LOVER$BOY wrote:While I do state the issue also occurred to me, currently my connection to master server is totally fine. I presumed something was off with my internet, especially it was having connection problems during that period of dis/connection.
I had another idea though. I was wondering if I may be getting blocked because of all the servers trying to connect to the master server at the same time. I was gonna test it a little, but once it was working, I didn't really want blocked out again if that's the cause.
Idk .. Hopefully it keeps working as is.

Re: Master Servers
Looks like one of the servers has run out of it's resources again. One of the servers won't connect at all.

Re: Master Servers
When the server gets rebooted, I boot it up and start the servers. I have a script to boot them all, and the dedicated idle is set to 15 minutes. Since they stopped reaching the master server while I was out, I assume it was during a reboot that they got banned from idle.Z-Man wrote:Is there a specific reason they all need to connect at once?
I knocked off a few servers and am down to 11, so maybe that will help for now. But eventually they're gonna stack back up. :X
Re: Master Servers
Can't you stagger the launches? A little sleep 5 would do wonders. Unless you are using standard init mechanisms for each server individually, of course.
Re: Master Servers
Yeah, I was thinkin' about adding sleep. I just don't like the thought of it taking a minute just to launch the servers.Z-Man wrote:Can't you stagger the launches? A little sleep 5 would do wonders. Unless you are using standard init mechanisms for each server individually, of course.

Im going to necro this post, because you all called me a liar.
Re: Master Servers
This was caused by me getting temporarily banned from spamming the master servers. What you talked about in the past was completely unrelated./dev/null wrote:Im going to necro this post, because you all called me a liar.
