- Time
Do we want this to be a spontaneous event, or should we organize it more? 3-monthly?
- Bracket-style
Many people didn't see the logic in the system we were using yesterday but there is a sort of logic. We have 2 possible situations.
One with all teams nicely balanced over the 2 servers. --> In this case there should not be semis, but finals right after the first round.
One where teams are not balanced and one server has 4 better teams, and one had 4 less skilled teams. In that case you could use the system of yesterday, so the 4 best teams in general advance, instead of the 2 best teams of each server. You could ask yourself if the finals wouldn't be a rematch of a first match. Over yesterday asked: "So we could actually just lose in the first match to go to the easier semis and then head to the finals?"
Another thing we could discuss is how teams are placed on the bracket. Should we continue to let the teams pick their server, or randomize everything?
- 1/2 Matches, Match Score
If 2 matches: how do you decide which 2 teams advance if same team won 2 matches?
I think it should be 1 match with a higher limit score, like 150/200.
- What to do with # teams?
Keep it 4/8/12 or allow not-multiples of 4 as well?
And if it would be for example 5 teams using the rules written on the wiki(4teams play one match: 3 winners advance and meet 5th team). How do you decide who is the 5th team(they have to play a match less.
I think the easiest solution here is to make it a standard max 8-teams event. First 8 teams putting their names on the wiki play.
- Rules
Are we trying to make this a fun event with some basic rules to not have a chaos each time, or are we trying to make this a strict monthly event ladle-ish?

Re: 4 Team Fortress (Discussion)
This is unlikely to be a regularly scheduled event. People get burnt-out on Fortress way too quickly for 4TF to happen more than once or twice a year. The gap between Ladles makes this month a good time to have the event.
Forget about splitting up teams by skill because there is no way to determine it. Did you notice the surprise victories and losses yesterday? 4TF teams are often hybrids and even when they are not you can't directly compare a team of 4 to those same players on a 6 person Ladle team.
Really, the biggest problem is how to get everyone in the game. Limiting the number of teams is no fun. There needs to be some flexibility (that is why the current bracket allows for teams 9-12 to get into the game).
I am against randomization because teams who sign up early should get a chance to play more. What if you were the first of 10 teams to sign up and randomization put you in a server with missing teams? Also, putting yourself on the bracket gives you a better chance at winning because you can choose to play against people who might be closer to your skill level. I think it is more fun.
Probably the most meaningful thing we can do is make all the matches end at 200 points. It will be easier to pick one or two teams to advance, depending on how many teams sign up.

Re: 4 Team Fortress (Discussion)
Funny that on the event everyone had criticism on the bracket system and now everyone is silent.
I think twice a year would be a good idea. Another idea is to organize a 4TF each time a wider gap comes in between 2 ladles.
I didn't mean to split them by skill, I ment that It could happen by coincidence.

So you would use the system on the wiki?sinewav wrote:Really, the biggest problem is how to get everyone in the game. Limiting the number of teams is no fun. There needs to be some flexibility (that is why the current bracket allows for teams 9-12 to get into the game).

I agree on the one match 200 points.Wiki wrote: 5-teams: Same as above, but lowest score of first match gets replaced with 5th team.
6-teams: Add another round of play. Top two teams after one match meet teams 5 and 6.
7-teams: Set a second server to max 3 teams and let let the lowest score be eliminated. 2 winners advance to meet the 2 winners from the other server.

Re: 4 Team Fortress (Discussion)
i didnt have much critisism on the event, other than the fact i didnt know what was happening with who progresses where, having one longer match to get top 2 teams seems the best option, maybe a bit more of a guidance outline on the wiki would help so everyone knows whats happening, other than that its a fun tourney and should be left to a not very often occurence, that makes it better.
also could we use the other 4tf map which has respawns, i prefer that one
