Re: Ladle 73 Predictions
I predict ctb and phx to have the most epic games in ladle history and last 3 hours a match.

Re: Ladle 73 Predictions
Phoenix has also had roster changes and can only field 2 teams occasionally. In this respect they are the same as CT. My point was, Phoenix has the teamwork but not the individual skill. CTb, historically, has individual skill poor teamwork. I say "be afraid" because good teamwork can beat individual skill, as we saw last month.Gonzap wrote:To be fair Sine, ctb has had roster changes almost every month, it's not like they are in the same position than phx who has a more/less stable roster.
However, now that I know you are playing on CTb, Phoenix will have a much harder time. I forgot CT was trying to even out the talent between squads. In the past, the B-team was considerably weaker. I know this is not the case anymore. If CTb beats KS and advances it will be an interesting match.

3 pages for a single prediction? Good job, guys. Start posting predictions, this topic is called "Ladle 73 Predictions", not "Useless discussion on predictions and silly arguments".

You first. The discussion is part of the prediction process. There are entire television networks dedicated to these types of discussions.dreadlord wrote:Start posting predictions...

I did not say that I want to read more predictions, I just said that this topic was created for something else but the drama that finally took place in it.
Re: Ladle 73 Predictions
Always like reading predictions, so this time I'll give it a try myself. Hope others will follow
1. Crazy Tronners Alpha
With Gonzap playing for team Beta this ladle, I have to say I've thought about putting Redemption above Crazy Tronners Alpha. In the end, however, I still think that, even without Gonzap's great attacking skills and constant pressure, this is the strongest team this ladle. Every position is occupied by great players, some of whom are exceptionally skilled, but the decisive factor will be the team's ability to stay alive and outlast any other team. The key to winning this ladle for CTa will be to remain focused at all times, be patient, and wait for opponents to make a mistake. It has proven to work in the last two ladles, so if everything goes right, I can definitely see CTa win their third ladle in a row. Oh, and I also promise I'll be impossible to kill.
2. Redemption
As I said before, Redemption was really close to being #1 in this ranking. Every single one of their players belongs to the top fortress players of Armagetron, and the addition of kült and newbÎe has certainly not weakened them. Overall, Redemption's biggest strength is the combination of individual skill and collective aggressiveness. Few players can honestly say they'd be comfortable sweeping and defending against players like Gazelle, Roterbaron, and Vov when they're in top condition. Their biggest strength, however, could also be their possible weakness. Being aggressive is good, but being overly aggressive is not. In the end, Redemption has a great chance of winning this ladle if they manage to keep their aggressiveness under control and fully benefit from it.
3. Rogue Tronners
Rogue Tronners have been able to form a solid team throughout the years. Mostly praised for their excellent team work, they also have great individual skill in each of the positions. I really think this team has a good chance of winning this ladle, and, especially with Magi as their newest addition, they are surely not to be underestimated. If all players reach their maximum potential, Rogue Tronners have a team to be feared this ladle.
4. Kill St.
Great players are listed on the roster of Kill St's team. Individual skill and strategy seem to nicely complement each other. Hadn't they been this inactive, they would have definitely been a top contender for this ladle's 1st place. Although they do have a chance, I don't think it's a big one. The real question is if their players will be able to be minimally affected by their rustiness and work together against the three powerhouses mentioned above. On no account should other teams underestimate this team, though; these bunch of players will still be able to do some major damage.
I would continue the list, but I'm too tired, so...

Re: Ladle 73 Predictions
Haven't done these in awhile; and I figured I would give it another shot so people have something else to argue over.
Opening Round:
Solarcold's Final Team(0) vs. Serenity(2) - Open Team vs. The New Clan on the Block. Serenity has had some recent troubles with getting people to show up for Ladle, but they seem to have added subs for this Ladle, so if they get 6, they should be able to win fairly easily. The fact that I've only seen 2 people from Open Team play fort before and one of them just came back to the game and the other uses way to exclamation points.
Team.uNk(2) vs. Rogue Tronners(1) - R has been on the decline lately; they haven't beaten anyone of relevance in a tournament since they won the Ladle last December(9 months). They've added several new members since then, but nothing has really changed, as they've lost some of their key members(Lacka, Luffy, to name a few). However, uNk has been quite inactive lately as well, but they always seem to show up for ladle(even if they're late) and they always seem to play very well, and since R always seems to get off to a slow start, I am going to pick uNk in the upset here.
Crazy Tronners Beta(0) - kill st.(2) - This matchup hinges on kill st. having 6 players. If they have 6, they should win no problem. But if one of their players doesn't show up, they will struggle and possibly lose. Another question in this matchup is who is this mystery person(if it is actually a person and not just a name signed up on the challenge board, but most likely it's a person)? My guess is probably a person that's began to play the game less but is still skilled, similar to everyone else on this team.
Phoenix Cinders(2) vs. Immortal Dynasty(0) - Server gives the advantage to Phoenix and there seems to some question about how many players will show up for ID this Ladle, a common theme among many teams.
Quarter Finals:
Crazy Tronners Alpha(2) vs. Serenity(0) - After their bye, CT will get a nice warmup match in as they look to win their 3rd ladle in a row.
eXtreme Volume(x) vs. Team.uNk(2) - I predict uNk gets a bye, as eXtreme Volume forgets to show.
Phoenix Embers(0) vs. kill st.(2) - After beating CTb, kill st. should have no problem with Phoenix.
Phoenix Cinders(0) vs. Redemption(2) - In the final match of 4 uninteresting quarterfinal matches, Redemption wins easily.
Semi Finals:
Crazy Tronners Alpha(2) vs. Team.uNk(1) - CT drops the first match, not quite ready for a real match this ladle, but they quickly regain their composure with the next 2 matches and win relatively easily.
kill st.(0) vs. Redemption(2) - If kill st. had any practice playing as a team, this match may be closer, but without that, Redemption's teamwork will overwhelm the inactive players.
Finals:
Crazy Tronners Alpha(1) vs. Redemption(2) - CT demoted(?) Gonzap to CTb, and I believe that will be the difference here. He has always been one of their best attackers and without him they will be have trouble getting through Soul and the rotation of the Redemption sweepers, whoever ends up sweeping that match. The Redemption attackers, should have no trouble getting through J-Dawg's defense whether it be through a hole or a cut and the match will be decided on which team has the better sumoers.
gz Redemption and an unfortunate loss for CT in their quest for 3 wins in a row.

Stealing Elmo's template because why not.
Opening Round:
Solarcold's Final Team(0) vs. Serenity(2) - I know it's his final team, but it is an open team. You never know if they'll have 6 or if they'll have two, so I'll take the clan here.
Team.uNk(1) vs. Rogue Tronners(2) - These are going to be good matches, R is gonna have their work cut out from the start, and we've been known to start very slow. If R just stays consistent instead of being so sporadic in terms of play, we should be fine.
Crazy Tronners Beta(0) - kill st.(2) - Kill st. has more skill players, but CTB also has zap. Depending on who is defending for CTB, it could get close if CTB plays slow enough.
Phoenix Cinders(2) vs. Immortal Dynasty(0) - ID is looking for subs. Not a good sign for them.
Quarter Finals:
Crazy Tronners Alpha(2) vs. Serenity(0) - If CTA doesn't keep the pressure on them, Serenity might make a match a little close. I don't think Serenity will win, but they should not be underestimated.
eXtreme Volume(x) vs. Rogue Tronners(2) - Will they even have enough? I think they only have 5 signed up.
Phoenix Embers(0) vs. kill st.(2) - I wonder if this is a day in which Phoenix surprises everyone. I can't get the challenge board up for some reason, so I'm not sure if this is team 1 or 2. If it's team 1, I wouldn't be surprised if they steal a game or two. Could be close if kill st underestimates them.
Phoenix Cinders(0) vs. Redemption(2) - Assuming this is team 2, sorry Phoenix.
Semi Finals:
Crazy Tronners Alpha(1) vs. Rogue Tronners(2) - R is determined to stop the threepeat for CT. Who knows how CTA will play given they might have a relatively long break since a lack of playing. R will be warmed up and CT might not be, and that could be a huge factor here. Always fun to watch the center battles, but will Woned be ready?
kill st.(0) vs. Redemption(2) - I would like to say it'll be 2-1, but I don't think I've ever seen kill st play as a team, but they will keep it close. Individual skill =/= teamwork.
Finals:
Rogue Tronners (2) vs Redemption (1) - These are normally good matches, and I'm sure they will be again today. I don't really know how you can predict some matches. You never know how it'll play out. R has had times where they just look way too dominant, but also times where they look extremely weak. Rd's aggressiveness will be an issue, as it is for most teams, but they'll end up making too many mistakes this time around. The pressure will get to someone, but whoever wins the first match is going to win, even when the other wins the second.
