"I remember i walked into the room and told wow, what is this sound thats so deeply penetrate through my body. I've never heard anything like it before. The speakers were kicking out this depth and deep bass. Thats how i would describe it."

Joe Bonamassa - Live from nowhere in particular

I love this voice. German Wal-Marts never had a greeting-guy as far as I remember (they sold their stores here)

I know some of these words. This is an algorithmically-generated non-analytical map of the musical genre-space. Genres and artists are positioned by code and data, adjusted for legibility, but the underlying vectors are less interesting than the juxtapositions and clusters that they produce, so the axes have been deliberately left unlabeled and uncalibrated. You are invited to imagine your own qualities and magnitudes that the geometry might be expressing.
But none of the musics will play for me. And I don't care what the math nerd says, some of those juxtapositions and clusters ain't right. And at some of those genre names. Look at all the metal ones. The hell? Dummies. And there's a genre of music called ninja?

Also, I needed like 5 minutes to spot the Talking Heads when I clicked on "New Wave". Should be fat in the center.

A sexy ninja performing comedy-c oratory. Makes perfect sense once you connect the dots.Phytotron wrote:And there's a genre of music called ninja?
How many dimensions would you need to spatialize genres more sensibly? Remember this seems to have a metric of sorts.

Nah, not enough synth and dance garbage.Word wrote:Also, I needed like 5 minutes to spot the Talking Heads when I clicked on "New Wave". Should be fat in the center.
As I alluded to, I've noticed some proximal genre relationships that aren't quite right, and several bands/musicians that are just plain miscategorized. And some of those genre names, just...duhhhh.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
I was wondering what the algorithm is thinking. I think it places things in actual Euclidian space based on several axes. It's possible that the significance of different axes varies in a way that doesn't map cleanly to 2D, and so it's bound to be warped and to overlap in places. The input might not even be diverse enough. With this focus on space, you can hardly expect anything more than an approximation to the way a graph (as in the thing with vertices and edges) of known relations would look. But it could reveal convergent evolution that might have gone unnoticed, if tuned well.
