Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
Well, I have been looking at a lot of clans' forums lately, and I've noticed a lot more tension going on in tron. A lot more than in the past. Back when I was still active, most everyone enjoyed the game and no one had any problems with other clans to this extent. Everyone had much more fun with this enjoyable game.
Many are being accused of stealing each others players. It keeps going on. When one person attacks another, it causes others that are friends or people who happen to stand on the same side to agree and to add on to the growing argument. I understand that you are backing up what you, your friends, or the side your clan stands on. This is just human nature. I suggest that people try to drop the accusations and attempt to work as a group. Stop pulling others into the skirmish, for this will only make the storm bigger.
For this FSU project. It is somewhat a good idea and has commendable intent. However, many things can go wrong. Even ones unknown to us right now. Since a few clans are "teaming up" or trying to make a pact, I, personally feel like this will create different alliances that will all clash. uNk and SP are attempting to form a coalition, but Rd does not agree with SP(from what I've read). People will reject this idea due to the fact of this grudge that was created.
I'm not sure about how this fight started, but I know that most, if not all players from both clans are amiable and friendly. (I've been in SP and have some friends in Rd)
Accusations pull the bad parts out of us and tear us down brick by brick.
These are just my ideas and thoughts. I haven't been very active on the grid to know much, but from the forums, I have realized that tron is becoming more and more competitive. This does not address everything, but I'm just brainstorming.

Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
I suppose a new question arises if you look at SP having only 4 active people on their roster while most other clans seem to flourish (the ones who recruit, that is) and seem to get almost too many apps. Not blaming SP for that, but doesn't that make the FSU idea look far less relevant and important? Do we want certain clans to be landmarked and get special protection? I'm undecided, just wondering what your thoughts are. Either way, 'player-theft' isn't the only reason a clan dies.

Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
Just out of curiosity, where do you guys draw the line between a player changing clans and a player being 'stolen'?
You can't actually kidnap a player and hold them against there will, forcing them to play for you. Well, you can, but I believe that goes to a higher jurisdiction than the FSU would reach
Is the line drawn as soon as another team asks? For instance if, in megafort, someone says 'Hey Word, why don't you come join Phoenix?', is that player theft?

Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
In the end what actually happens is the player leaves their clan to apply for another clan that seems better for them. I mean, too bad for the old clan, but shouldn't a player have the freedom to leave their clan if they so wish? Good luck "stealing" a player from a clan that they're truly happy with.
Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
That's my position as well, I just wondered where those opposed to this stand.

Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
Statement of unease: Lectured some of the players who were involved. Doesn't really seem like their conscience is eating them up (with one exception), and they had no problem to admit it. They think what they did didn't hurt anyone, they just gave the community a platform to bitch about one another. They also gave away the names of those who submitted the worst stuff. Not going to out anyone, just know that I'm not going to talk to you anymore, sinewav is right that this wouldn't help anyone.
I now think that my suggestions can't be applied here and that the FSU is the only viable way. This doesn't mean that I like it. At least I know who should be kicked out first once there is another such controversy.
Feel free to ignore this or laugh about it, but I think you should at least be ashamed. What I was told is different from Soul's, woof's and Brok3n's account in a crucial way, but I still think they were relatively restrained here, compared to what I learned now - and even if I don't like what one of them did to MYM forums not so long ago. In any case, they deserve better treatment.

Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
And, what you were told is "right"? I think that's the largest problem with arguments in this community. Everything is done without credibility, only whether or not we take someone's word on a particular issue/situation. It's hard to determine who should really be held accountable for what, which is one of the leading reasons this thread even exists. It's all finger pointing and saying "No, he did it!", which is basically what whomever told you the people behind it were doing.Word wrote: Feel free to ignore this or laugh about it, but I think you should at least be ashamed. Um, I avoided to point fingers, I haven't said anything new, except that I'm disappointed and it just changed my opinion about the necessity of the FSU - and I thought I should explain why I had such a radical change of heart, since I criticized it before I knew who was responsible. What angered me is that they didn't seem to regret it so a reconciliation comission, anything that requires them to account and apologize for what they did, is pointless because ultimately they'd be dishonest and still proud of themselves - so we have to have the FSU to make the best of it. I just realize that I've been wrong here.

Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
I have been very carefully watching the development of this thread from its inception. I think I can contribute something worthwhile. Everybody seems to be debating if this should be done. Really, I think the question should really be re-framed. With the spark of an idea, and buy-in from a few of the most influential of clans in the Fortress/Sumo, you really have to ask the question: Why wouldn't we do this?
We have the opportunity here to try to mitigate the problems of miscommunications and poor behavior on the part of players and/or clans. This idea needs a lot of stuff to be hammered out in terms of scope and the details.
So, let's take this debate to the next level. Let's just, for the sake of argument, assume that this is a worthy idea to prevent further degradation of the community as a whole. Let's just start hammering out the details, and do this thing.
Possible ideas from the thread.
1. To give clans/teams a positive reason to join the FSU, hold tournament(s) that are FSU ones, separate from the Ladle/other regular tournaments.
2. To facilitate the communication among FSU members, establish a forum. Use said forum to setup an authority to positively identify FSU members in FSU tournaments.
3. The only real power the FSU would have would be to bar members from playing in FSU tournaments.
Discuss.
