[quote="sinewav"]I guess you were not around when Pink Pony was discovered. It's been an ongoing joke around here for a while. :)

Oh shit, the days when I used to lurk! I have to admit, I didn't get it at the time.

I think that Hoax is referring to the generalized vision that 2020 had for the Ladle and Fortress in general. Hoax, if you are right, then you and 2020 are wrong. It is generally accepted by most players that a significant majority of players that play this game obsessively and for longer than 6 months usually, but not always end up playing Fortress/Sumo. A recent example: RoadrunnerZ. These players started out in the American Fast Track servers that Zero put up. First, a player suggested that Zero put up a Sumobar server, then a "Fortress for Noobs" server. This eventually led to the full on development of the RoadrunnerZ fortress team and now clan. If you surv of eyed the current players of Fortress, you would find that many of them started out in High Rubber, and to a lesser extent, Dogfight servers.
Eventually, a small group of players will be curious about those other servers and try out Sumo/Fortress.
Please don't be too offended by the community here that can be overly focused on Fortress/Sumo. Many of them are serious tournament players and this is the gathering place for that kind of play.
Personally, I and many others here are glad to hear of your server and the promotion of it withing the Brony Community. I wondered what you meant by "Bronies" and am glad to understand what that means. I just like to see anybody playing this game and promoting a server of their own. Good luck at the convention.

Well, the current plan is to clone our server that is already online which is a Deathmatch server for the tournament. We are going to have 8 people per match, eliminating the bottom 4 at the end of 5 rounds or when they reach a time limit of 5 minutes. Then the 4 that are left are put in with another 4 winners, eliminating half of the players with each set of matches. Eventually, there will be a 1v1 match to decide who gets the prize.

Great to hear. If you ever want to run a regular tournament in the regular game, I will gladly help you by donating servers (I also use Amazon Cloud hosting, I currently have 8 EC2's setup, 4 UK, 4 in Virginia, USA).

Awesome, thanks for the offer! Our server is an EC2 in Virginia but we're bringing in a physical for the con tournament so we can control access more easily and to make lag almost nonexistent.

Yeah, you can't beat a physical server in a LAN! I have had a lot of success with EC2 free tier instances running in VIrginia. I do like how you guys are emphasizing basic deathmatch.
If you guys would like, I will gladly create a flyer about Armagetron for you to hand out, and include a QR code that leads back to the Armagetron site, or if you prefer, to the facebook page that you have created. That might make it a little more likely that people actually download, install, and play the game.

Well, the con might be making an announcement on their site about the tournament and we got ourselves posted on Equestria Daily (a massive fan site) but those flyers sound like they would be really useful, especially for late entries the day of the tournament. Could you have the qr for both the Facebook page and the download site? We have a link to the main site on our page but it's at the end of our description, a little hard to see.

I can easily make whatever QR codes that you need. To make it a little easier, please respond to this message with a link to the Facebook page. And I assume the other code will point to http://www.armagetronad.org.

The Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Armagetro ... ref=stream but I plan on that URL changing in the near future to something shorter and easier to remember. I don't want to change it now because the old link is what got posted on that fan site and I don't want to miss out on anyone who might click that link. I'll give it another few days before changing it and then give you the new address. The new address will will most likely be http://www.facebook.com/TronBronies to match our Twitter address.

If you could also design them in a way that would go with the shirts we're wearing to to the tournament tournament would be awesome. It's more professional looking to have a common theme.

I'm just going to say it. There's nothing wrong with being a Brony. Nothing at all. If there's a problem with it, it is YOURS.

I'd like to rant, and also point out that I'm not a Brony, but Epsy asked us to take it to a different thread, and I'll respect that. :)

That's what I thought he meant. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt by asking.

Can you possibly post as an attachment the computer graphics that were used to make the t-shirts? That would make it much easier to get an exact match.

Whilst not being a big brony fan, that T-Shirt is pretty cool. If I were you, trevor, I would make the lines blue, considering it's pretty much blue=good guys and red/yellow=bad guys
