Cutie Mark Con is a Brony convention coming up this May in Cincinnati. I run ---Applejack's Super Awesome Brony Server--- which is in the cloud, hosted with Amazon at the moment. In the first few week s though, when I was still experimenting with it, it ran on a small server in my closet. My admin team and I will be bringing that server to the convention and hosting a tournament for charity in their game room.

Yup, and the players that I attract to my server through this tournament will no doubt want to try out other servers, bringing more players to the game as a whole. I can't wait!

The idea is awesome, but I still find the appeal of a cartoon designed for six-year-old girls confusing?

I'm not even going to have this debate.

Please keep any discussion about whatever you think about Bronies(adults who appreciate the cartoon My Little Pony) in another thread. That includes replying to this statement :)

As for getting Armagetron on a LAN, if that's what you're suggesting, then as always that's great news. Let us know if you have any specific needs.

Well, I plan on just cloning the server I already run and setting it up on a LAN for the tournament. Like I said, I have a server just sitting in my closet. Most of the specifics I need have to do with scheduling at the con and making sure people pay the entry fee. Not much you guys can do. Thanks though.

It might be nice to have a few people from other places playing, just so the grid looks busy enough. For that, I would myself connect to the master server. Also, have you considered creating moviepacks themed around your hobby? I'm not sure how to go around animating a pony's legs, but it's certainly easy enough to replace the lightcycle with a static pony, and you can also change the look of the grid, the walls, the sky and the trail. I think there's a way to change the explosion too, but I'm not sure.

I guess you were not around when Pink Pony was discovered. It's been an ongoing joke around here for a while. :)

Yes, I have considered doing that, problem is I don't know a thing about graphic design. There is plenty of TronxPony crossover art out there though so I might be able to get on of those artists to do it...

As for filling up the grid, the maps I use only have 8 spawn points and these conventions attract a lot of people. (I went to one a few months ago with an attendance of 2,000 people). I don't think there will be any problem filling up.
