Other Sundays are currently left open for other tournaments such as sumo, CTF etc. But actually, I think it would be quite a good thing to have a mini-ladle/alternative fort tournament once a month, as well as ladle (so two fort events a month rather than one)
I think a more casual tournament, with a different structure and slightly different rules would be great. As with all competitions though, it will only happen if somebody organises it! /me can't even play tron at the moment

Such a thing exists, and it happens the day before Ladle. It's called Spoon, and it was actually quite successful last month. Basically, ~24 ppl show up on irc, and we get a 4 team single elimination competition going.
Yeah I know about the Spoon; I'm thinking of something a bit more official (such as insa's suggestion), where you sign up teams and play in the same way you do with ladle, TST, SBT etc.
As I said, I can't even play... If someone wants to take the responsibility of sorting something though, I'm sure others would be up for helping and participating. It would be good to consolidate the seemingly recent resurgence in activity that's occurred in the last few months with an additional fort competition for new players to play alongside current players
Could it just be arranged that there would be an extra game type on pickup one time a month for 4 way fort? Randomised teams though, choosing would get v. messy...
We are talking about having another fort tourney.. but we dont have monthly and or every other month sumo tournaments! i know we have the ISL, but we haven't had an SBT, 1v1 or TST / WST in FOREVER!
tbh i like tst's etc.. but Fort is just waaaaaaaaaay better................... lets try to get another fort tournament like Twice a month .. every month a ladle and 2 weeks after the ladle another tournament called w/e with the 4way tournament á 3 players, expecting to get 40-50 players would be 13-16 teams would be fun just saying
This idea has been mentioned before - we could have a structured tournament season, where rather than relying on one person to single-handedly organise an SBT, sumo tourneys and other tourneys are scheduled into a programme in advance (in the same way that ladle already is)
So for example;
February
1 Sunday - Ladle
2 Sunday -
3 Sunday - 4way Fort
4 Sunday - SBT
March
1 Sunday - Ladle
2 Sunday - CTF Brawl
3 Sunday - Alternative fort tournament
4 Sunday -
5 Sunday - TST
Or whatever you like, something like this is easily within this community's capabilities. We could also simplify it by just saying that every second Sunday we'll have a sumo tourney, and every third Sunday we'll have an alternative fort tourney. This would prevent tournament clashes as well, which has been a problem in the past
Although I understand why people want another fort tournament, I think the reason ladle is so fun and exciting is because of the fact that it only comes once a month. I feel like adding another fort tournament each month might detract from that experience. I do like the idea of having more consistent sumo tournaments though!
the fact that its only once a month doesnt make it "cool" it makes it important to win.. and i think if there is only one more tournament with fort ppl will still take ladle srs..tbh.. people want to improve.. and i want to have fun more than once a month..

The idea of more fortress tournaments looks good on paper, but it will just ruin the ladle. Improve in pickups
