Advertise Tron

I think we should advertise tron. I came across tron randomly. I was at school ,and I just seen this bike icon sitting their on my screen. It reminded me of the movie tron legacy. I think if we advertise, we can have dead gametypes or ones that are dying come back to life with new talent. Please share your thoughts.

Well, this isn't exactly a new idea. Im pretty sure the problem is money, advertising usually isn't free. I can't remember previous threads very well, so there are probably a few other issues also

Personally not sure if this would be a good idea. The influx of noobs might choke the gameplay.

Not the right time, yet. We have had extensive discussions with Z-Man about this issue, and there are thousands upon thousands of downloads a month. However, without a set of tutorials and other things that are currently found in the .4 experimental branch, not nearly as many new users are going to have a positive enough experience with the game to go online and play much. Once .4 is stable, I have a series of articles that I have written that will allow me to launch a full Internet Marketing Campain (which is what I do for a living) using entirely free methods. At that time I will enlist the help of others on these forums. I just feel from my experiences with play testing the game with new users, that without a .4 stable, it is just not worth the effort, yet.

Lots of people do, and it's definitely the preferred camera view for high rubber game types.

Wait, is there something more to this relationship? Do the HR players prefer Smart Cam because of the server, or do new users gravitate toward HR because of the Smart Cam? If this is so, I would say that is good enough reason to change the default camera.

Uh, others and I have asked this (custom cam to default) years ago, and as far as I know it's already been changed.

and then i would if its not a problem of programming.. give the player in the tutorial like some screenshots on how he prefers to play... like u scroll from 1 camera position to another and if he presses enter this camera setting is being set...

Absolutely not. No. A lot of older players who've never had anything to do with high rubber have used and continue to use smart cam, including myself. Misery is another. Akira did for most of the time he has played, though I think he recently switched. I think boobert might. Just to name a few off the top of my head who are still or recently active.

Smart cam is the best default cam because it presents the most "cinematic" sort of experience (presentation matters for a new player) and, I believe, is from a practical standpoint the most well-rounded for a novice player. Leave custom cam for just that: custom use. It's named that for a reason, eh.

I think the only reason I switched to custom camera (years ago) was because smart camera took too long to turn around from a 180, especially in higher speed servers (Breakfast servers).

I have no idea why you would want smart cam in high rubber.

That was my reason for considering it too
