I've always interpreted the rules to mean that you can only add 2 players in between the setting of the brackets and the hour before the ladle, but between the start of the ladle and the start of the semi-finals, you can use as many substitutes as you'd like.

Re: Ladle 58
I thought rule 8 referred to rule 5, which would mean that you can add the 2 allowed subs until the semi-finals but not more than two.PokeMaster wrote:I've always interpreted the rules to mean that you can only add 2 players in between the setting of the brackets and the hour before the ladle, but between the start of the ladle and the start of the semi-finals, you can use as many substitutes as you'd like.

Re: Ladle 58
There is no cap on the number of substitutes. We don't define it, but a substitute is someone who joins after Ladle starts and it has nothing to do with the Challenge Board rules that prevent team switching. So, Poke Master is correct.dreadlord wrote:I thought rule 8 referred to rule 5, which would mean that you can add the 2 allowed subs until the semi-finals but not more than two.
You can have a team comprised entirely from substitutes. This actually happened once. Teen created a team and neither he nor any of his teammates showed up. So, Concord, me, and one other person (can't remember the name or even the Ladle) played in place of them. We lost, (it was 6v3) but not before tying the winner 52-52 at one point. It was fun.

Re: Ladle 58
Sounds nice and all, but having that option for unlimited subs completely undermines any requirement to actually signup a team and for any real organization. The 3 extra players you signup could just be yet-to-be-used aliases, which is a real problem, because then you say "hey I'm gonna wait to get organized after everybody else did, and who knows, maybe I'll waste 45 minutes for some team if I can't get my stuff together in time." Whole point of setting the challenge board on Thursdays is that it creates a common point by which all teams need to be prepared (or mostly prepared by). Unlimited substitutes is a large loophole around this.

Re: Ladle 58
I know. That's pretty much exactly what happened last month. We simply expect people to be honest and not abuse loopholes. I'm hoping the upcoming Bowl and Ladle "season" will help reinforce the need to be seen and stick to a team. We will need a couple tiny amendments to the current rules, but I haven't posted about that because we're not there yet.

Good luck everyone! Wish I could be there

Last ladle, Kyle made it really clear he wont be fixing wrong GID. If they core dumped up at sign up, its their fault.dlh wrote:Code: Select all

There's a difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you're shit. Grammar does matter.

Kyle didn't make this file, and the two invalid GIDs took 10 seconds to correct (cool-guy@forums was a false positive).nux wrote:Last ladle, Kyle made it really clear he wont be fixing wrong GID. If they core dumped up at sign up, its their fault.

So let me get this straight: The team CoolGuys will have no way of authenticating in the server? How will we even know it is really the same person that signed the team up? Anyone could just show up and try to play claiming to be "CoolGuys".
