Person makes an advertisement written in a style intended to mimic a real-world recruitment pitch, complete with vague and shallow inducements. Person thinks it's perfectly normal that one would want to join any organization or institution without knowing who is behind it, and where in fact those persons are making a point of hiding their identities. Sounds legit.

Apparently you didn't read my first post thoroughly enough. I clearly stated I would make our true identities known to those who ask, depending on whether we feel that person should or should not know. Our reasons for secrecy are very real, the fact we've chosen not to disclose the nature of these reasons is our right as human beings. Perhaps there is wisdom in basing your choice in following a clan not on your personal opinion of its leaders, but by what you can actually see in them without any previous bias. Or perhaps we're just reaching out for attention. There will be a time when all is revealed and any unanswered questions will be taken account for, but until then you can either wish us luck or stay out of our way.

You guys making new clans have this all backwards. First you recruit at least a 1/2 dozen or more members on the grid and play in one competition. Posting here in the manner you have posted will net you one or two members at best. But, posting about your new clan here will have very little value to most people, including yourself, until such time as you are established. Every clan that I am aware of that has been around for more than a year, and is still around, was founded by recruiting on the grid. Every clan that I have seen try to start by posting here has died in less than 6 months.

Yes, we know who our members are and they know who we are. The only ones out of the loop are the ones who don't need to know.

Of course I did; I always do. If you were actually anyone important you'd know that about me, not only because I've demonstrated it thoroughly and consistently in the past, but because I'm someone important. (Yes, the previous sentence was meant to mock you. The first was sincere.)

The stance of "whether we feel like that person should know" fits right in with how I described you—your notion that it's normal that someone would be interested in joining (and therefore contacting you) in the first place without knowing who you are or what you represent. And your silly little ad certainly didn't give any indication of the latter, either, hence my description of it as "vague and shallow inducements." The phrase "a strong focus on discipline and competitive spirit" says absolutely nothing; it's empty advertising language. "Be all you can be." (Damn, what the fook! They cut the bit I was looking for. As he leaves he sings, "Be all you can be. Get an ugly wife and a messed up life in the Arrrrmy.")

What the hell are you talking about? It's a video game clan, you ninny. Some of you really have perspective problems, another reason why clans are a BAD THING. What in the world could be your "very real" reasons? Inconceivable.

Perhaps there is wisdom in basing your choice in following a clan...

And speaking for myself, I'm always going to give a clan spam post a hard time. The fact that you couched it in this ridiculous recruitment advertising language plus super-secret identity nonsense only makes me more motivated.

It's not a secret who we are anymore, nor should it hard to guess why there was a need for secrecy. My partner, to some extent, felt ashamed of what he had done do his previous clan and wasn't quite ready for them to know what his next step was. And as for myself, it's no secret that I am probably one of the least loved members of the tron community and this could be damaging to a successful clan future. We'd like to thank our friends that we confided in that didn't run off at the mouth, and thanks to everyone who had constructive things to say.
