it works according to this formula:

( a+ b + c + d ) / e

a = how attractive you are percieved to be
b = how much money you have
c = how stupid the other person is
d = how desperate the other person is
e = how stupid you are (automatically 10 if you try)

each variable is on a scale of 1-10 (10 highest)
result below 4 = no way
