'Course, there are also all the proposals for reforming/replacing the Gregorian calendar overall to make one more accurate, regular, and useful. I don't know enough about any of them specifically, or enough about the subjects involved generally, to have a position on which is best, or even have a preference, however.
Oh yeah, and obvious northern hemisphere bias with the demarcation at the first day of Spring. I guess that wouldn't quite work.
