Impossible! If that were true, why would I have kept playing ctf all these years!sinewav wrote:most people don't want to leave their comfort zone and risk being exposed as a weak player, so whatever.

As I said before in the other thread, the end playoffs make the first 5 months or so pointless. At least with the FPL, every match meant something. Your current format is basically a long period of waiting to play a ladle in June.
@Sine like what kind of tournaments though? We're mainly fort/sumo players because we find that to be the most fun. Personally I'd like some variety in fort tournaments similar to what sumo has. Why not an onslaught tournament, or another 4 team (or 4 way!?) fort tournament, CTF with fort physics is always fun, there hasn't been a fortress brawl in ages, fort cup seems to have stalled. Those things all seem more interesting to me than a league.

This is exactly what I mean about people not stepping out of their comfort zone.-*inS*- wrote:Personally I'd like some variety in fort tournaments similar to what sumo has. How about and Incam Fortress tournament? How about any Incam? How about a Low Rubber tournament? How about a CTWF tournament? How about a straight-up, no-zone Tron fight, with or without teams, with something other than the physics you see in Fort/Sumo?
That's what I'm talking about. Most people don't want to play anything different; usually because they don't like loosing I imagine. It's not just the Fort/Sumo crowd, it's all Arma (and I imagine all online games too).

I personally want a "hold the flag" tournament lol

Sine I don't think it's so much about people fearing losing (though that may be a factor), but feeling completely sucky at something. We've all spent a lot of time developing our skills that define our comfort zones and we want to use them and compete with them. I don't like competing in other gamemodes that I'm not familiar with, especially ones that aren't that developed, because to me, they represent the challenge of who can figure it out the fastest, not who can refine it and take it to it's highest level. The second is usually more fun for me. If I wanted the first, I'd browse kongregate more often.

I spent ages trying to find out what people wanted, and how it would work. You guys voted for this, and now you're not happy.... -_-
Re: Tronpions League back online, with Dec fixtures released
I'm happy with this...very fun...
Anyway how'd this go yesterday? Plox post results.

Slick no one played except for me that i had to rush and put a team together.
Nani , this tronpions is just very stretched out & it feels like by the time we get to the end, we're just playing a ladle match.
I don't like the idea of having these small matches and then boom "year later" we have an official show down.
maybe you could look into a different kind of fort tournament? and do a league type of tournament with that? Maybe 4-way Fort?

Oh...Cmon people...
I thought everyone was having fun no?
Nani I don't think it's anything personal. I mean u have to take into account it is holidays and there are so many other tournaments going on it's hard to keep track (like poke said)

pL+Titan 3:0 Open TeamPlox post results.
This tourney could be alot of fun tho. Why not make it last for 3 or 4 months rather then 12?

I don't think its about losing. I know a lot of people that came from different game types, like myself. I spent about 6 months playing highrubber when I first started, then mastered wildcat and played some df and other med rubber modes. Finally, I came upon sumo, then fort. These two gametypes are pretty much the only ones where I've consistently felt challenged. The other game types are more picky IMO like no camping, no backdooring, no digging blah blah. In sumo, its a more skill oriented gametype so there is less room for people to just **** around and stay in a box for 5 mins.sinewav wrote: That's what I'm talking about. Personally, that's pretty much the reason I don't care that much for other game types. Also I think a lot of them are less fit for team tourneys whereas fort is perfect.

huh? I was one of the biggest fans of Concord's tron league - shame it died, because it did seem very popular. Perhaps a tournament with those setting could be a hit, it's just about someone organizing it. As someone who originally was a high rubber player (the reason why I was in SP, haha), I've experienced my fair share of game modes all the way from Nexus 9 to Delicious Desserts. Fort is by far the most tactical and interesting mode to me, which is why most of the things I want are sort of fort-esque. In fact I'd say I'm probably worse at fort/sumo than I was at wildcat or high rubber when I played them, so really my 'comfort zone' is pretty much whatever is on the server browser.
If you want a non-fort tourney, I'd say styball would be a hit (that's in my comfort zone too).
But from what I read you want a "Spork" (I forget the terminology), the tournament where every team picks a server (of any game mode) to be included in the brackets, then play a ladle through that. I'd be game for that.

Re: Tronpions League back online, with Dec fixtures released
You act like it's a chore that you play games for 5 months, as if you're only playing because you want to win the whole thing overall. Shouldn't having scheduled, organized games that whole time be enough? Winning each individually would be fun and challenging enough, and an added playoff period where the competition gets much more competitive would follow.
