The new 0.4 has the option to wait on Vsync in the game, which fixes a freezing problem for Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) users. Would it be possible/plausible to add this to the 0.2.x branch?

Possible, yes. Plausible, sorry, no. At this point, I consider 0.2.8 dead for new features, and this particular one won't be easy to backport cleanly since it is intertwined with the new glFlush code. Can't you just use the OS features to force VSync on?
Speaking of Lion, does anyone have trouble running in fullscreen? I read about an incompatibility of SDL with Lion there.
