Fixed. It's responsible for the single biggest increase in sumo ability in the past year.sinewav wrote:Sumo Bar is the best thing to happen to sumo.

Why cant we have a WST before Sumobar? I am just curious... Sumobar was 1 month and a few ago... last WST(classic)... almost a year...
Signature? wtf...
Re: January Sumo Tournament Poll (you choose!)
That. I don't know why you started a poll at all cody, I thought we decided wst is perfect.Cronix wrote:Why cant we have a WST before Sumobar? I am just curious... Sumobar was 1 month and a few ago... last WST(classic)... almost a year...

+100, but with the good old map, if anything. There you really needed a skilled, experienced center to get some space and wings to make the other's shrink/obtain some more space. And I'm ready for a cool WST comeback. Tournament & team-wise.dreadlord wrote:That. It's like watching a bunch of people argue about what kind of lettuce they want on their crap sandwich. Sumo is all the same. You draw your self into a box and try to outlast the other campers. What does it matter where you are in/out the circle and how many people are in it? You're only going to use a tiny part anyway.
Re: January Sumo Tournament Poll (you choose!)
don't be narrow-minded.
if you aren't able to apply strategy in sumo properly, doesn't mean others also can't. all these types of sumo have significant differences considering tactics/strategy.
maybe you should play some sumo tournaments and experience the difference between them before shouting meaningless statements.

Re: January Sumo Tournament Poll (you choose!)
Well a couple people have asked me to change their vote. so classic WST is actually leading right now.
Re: January Sumo Tournament Poll (you choose!)
Do a WST Cody, we haven't had those in a while. I think we need another poll on old or new map though, haha.

Classic sumo is way cooler than the new one imo .
Re: January Sumo Tournament Poll (you choose!)
It's pretty hilarious to call me narrow minded. I'm perfectly fluid in all modes except high-rubber, which is a nonsense mode anyway. By the way, I can't remember the last time I saw you in CTF, Incam, No-Rubber, Racing, or even CTWF. Maybe you smurf a lot; I wouldn't know then.wap wrote:don't be narrow-minded.

I participated in the TST last weekend. It was probably my 3rd or 4th TST. I don't remember every tournament I've played in and I'm sure you don't either.
Almost exactly two years ago I tried to start a thread on these mysterious "strategies/tactics" in Sumo. I thought in Team Sumo there would be even more to talk about than single player. As it turns out, there isn't even a solid page of good content before the conversation turned to "what's sucks about sumo," and the thread ended in us testing new sumo servers over the following months (which lead to Jumbo Sumo, and then Sumo Bar).
Also, I'm partially responsible for the WST.
None of these variations transformed Sumo into anything more than drawing yourself in a box and camping. But I guess I don't know what I'm talking about.

Re: WST-January Sumo Tournament, Classic or Newest Map?
Maybe it's just me, but I approach sumo in this way:
Step 1: Get decent space to hold onto
Step 2: Hold that space while looking for opportunities to expand/kill enemies/grab better, more centered space
Step 3: Do (2) and repeat.
And that's a very condensed version of it. That's my approach for any type of sumo. It's easiest in 1v1s, and hardest in sumo bar. The camping is only part of it, and if you don't think there's much strategy involved, watch some recordings of rudy.
