Spectator lagg

Post by regedit »

Before i go into the problem:
I had been experiencing a lot of lagg, but i had narrowed that down to low upload speed.
After several hours on the phone i managed to get the lagg fixed, and my upload speed up.

Problem:
However, although there is no lagg (as in, no lagg which is abnormal) while i am playing,
there is a lot of lagg when i am spectating. This is the same, no matter which server.
I'll do some more testing into whether it is affected by ping.

Any idea what could be causing it?

Edit:
There is less spectator lagg on servers in which i have a lower ping.

Please don't spell it that way.

And how does this spectator lag manifest itself? Usually, lag would be defined as a delayed reaction to your input, so it's hard to imagine what you mean when you don't have any input in the first place. It's probably best if you attach a debug recording.

The lag is basically delays in player(player which i am spectating) turns.
For example i might see the player collide into a wall and then see them
again having turned and traveled some distance. So completely missing the turn.

Unfortunately I don't have time to make a recording at the moment, should get on up tomorrow.

P.s. sorry about spelling.

Here is the recording.
Prime example of what i am talking about is with "fini" in round two.
Note: My ping in this server was pretty good (30)

That's prediction being active. For a smoother spectating experience, disable it in the network setup (or via PREDICT_OBJECTS 0 on the console).

Nah, don't. We should probably disable that by default when you're not playing.
