Right, a server host is providing a service to the so-called community you guys are always talking about. An attitude of "Screw the users, let them eat cake!" will lose you players to the servers run by people who do give a damn. Any (small) business or public service understands this basic principle: Your existence is entirely dependent on your patrons; you're accountable to the them, and if you want to survive you need their support, which includes taking feedback and constructive criticism.
Of course, the difference in this analogy is that the cost of a server isn't recouped by income derived from a fee on the users. So, I suppose if one thinks it's sensible to continue to pay money out of their own pocket hosting a server that no one plays because it's unplayable, that's their prerogative.
