You can achieve the same effect if you draw a small map and put the spawnpoints outside of it (although there's really no reason to do that).

Can you give precise instructions how to get there, starting form stock settings? I was unable to reproduce it and even though breakdown is expected for extreme settings, high rubber and low speed should be a safe combination.

I just went on the uNa server and, and starting from the basic fortress settings, only changed "/admin cycle_rubber 99999999" (1+e008). I found that I was able to travel through roughly the back quarter of my tail, but was unable to move through the AI's tail while he moved. I boxed in the AI, and found that I was able to move through the back end of his tail (picture attached below).

I am not sure if this is the same issue produced last night from my previous post, as I don't recall if we were only able to move through the back ends of each others' tails (and mistakenly thought the trick was just driving into a tail for a long time); later, I can access the server logs from last night to tell you all the specific setting changes we made.

Yellow's tail was stationary (I had boxed the AI in) as I double binded back and forth through it.

Ah. Finite trails. Could be the rubber induced trail end shrink, maybe it's just not properly displayed on the client.

Edit: yep, It's that boring. Trail shrink rendering relies on accurate rubber values, and the rubber sync code assumes sensible maximal rubber values. It maps the 0 to max rubber range to 16 bit, and with those settings, it's always transmitted as zero. You can try different rubber values and watch the shrink display degrade from perfect to kinda works to unacceptable around cycle_rubber 1E+5, which I'm sure passes as 'medium rubber' in some circles.

It's a shame the client isn't able to handle these medium rubber settings of 1+E8!

And we had been so excited thinking we h4x0red the game or broke the laws of physics; thank you for explaining this phenomenon to us, Z-man!
