Slick's 2v2 Loose Dogfight Tournament

Post by Slickster »

kgo: http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php? ... Times_Sake

Purpose: for old times sake.

Time: October 9th starting at 2:45 PM EST (hopefully we can get enough by then!)

etc? Aliases are allowed and welcome. I'm trying to keep this relaxed but very competitive. I'd like to welcome all to play (yeah u sumoers and forters) cuz it will be fun and competitive.

Also, the wiki is still a work in progress...Just thought I'd get the word out to see how much interest I could get in it. My first wiki pg ever, good no?

When you get an RINCLUDE up, I can put up as many as 4 American servers, each hosted on a separate server.

Also, to make the tournament run smother, may a toss out a couple of settings ideas to you? These settings are used in the ID DF: The Next Generation server. The settings in question were added by Z-man and tested by myself and a few others with the express purpose to make a loose DF server where the "rules" are enforced by the server settings.

First, to enforce open play

Code: Select all

CYCLE_RUBBER_MINDISTANCE_GAP .01
This forces a .01 meter gap between all walls, so, technically, there is always a gap to hit. It makes digs and stabs impossible. It is a small enough gap that you can make all your coolest traps still.

To prevent backdooring.

Code: Select all

CYCLE_RUBBER_MINDISTANCE_GAP_BACKDOOR .1
CYCLE_RUBBER_MINDISTANCE_GAP_BACKDOOR_OVERRIDE 0
I have tried these settings with numerous other df settings and never found conflicts. But, nobody can "cheat".

Wow, awesome. Thank you so much compguy!

You know, I don't even have a rinclude that I was working with. The truth is, I don't even know how to put one on the wiki forums, or post brackets for that matter. I truly just stole a lot of this template from previous tournaments.

I'm just a DF fan who's trying to get the community together :)

I really appreciate this, and u know, If you could help me work out some kinks, that'd be greatly appreciated. Maybe we could talk on irc or skype chat or something?

I'll try out ur next gen server tomorrow!

Just so everyone knows:

I'm leaning towards extending this tourney a week. It was very late notice that I put it up in the first place, but i'd still like to have it this Sunday if we get at least 8 teams.

So, SIGN UP ASAP if you can!

Update about reffing:

We have settings that will work without refs. If there's any dispute you can come see me or an Admin but I am confident these will work.

I will update the wiki pg in a sec.

Ok, servers are listed on the master list. They are all named Slick's 2v2LDFT (servername).

I also edited the wiki, and made brackets like you all have seen elsewhere. Please check out the updated http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php? ... Times_Sake.

I did check the servers out to make sure they work, and the authorities are correct. If anyone sees a problem, post here. I will check this forum before and during the tournament. Just to make things clear, ID's KS is there as a backup server if one crashes or is too laggy to play.

Comp, is there anyway that you can give me the server address and port number to them?
My internet doesn't let me sometimes connect to servers for no apparent reason. If I custom connect it works though :s

My apologies, Soul. I meant to list that information on the wiki. I will do that tonight. The servers will just stay up, so anybody can practice for the next one.

Who won this? It was pretty cool participating and beating an actual df team / almost beating the next without any prior experience. Not gonna lie, the rules and point dismissing are really annoying.

+1

and from what I heard & seen.

Slick & noodz won(I like how the referees won ;))

Also I like how slick rearranged the brackets so iD didn't have to vs ~R~ team(like it says they do) and we had to vs them instead & R vsing them next.

me and liz had fun beating an actual df team and like she said me and her had no clue what we were doing. what pissed me off was the unofficial rules that they were quoting and how you were slapping negative points and how horrible the organization was & messed up the config was.
The Loose DF rules are enforced by the server settings.
thats off the wiki so why were me and liz getting points taken off?
