How about we stop trying to ridicule each other? Seriously though, calm down. Lets just pay our respects to those who died in 9/11 AND those who have died as a result of any acts of terrorism.

There's nothing weak about either empathy or tolerance, and, I suggest to both of you, anyone who wants to actually change the state of this nation for the better, rather than just whine about and point out the flaws of it, needs to recognize man as his own best governor. If he cannot be trusted govern himself, he cannot be reasonably expected to govern others.
Thomas Jefferson, in an 1824 letter to Henry Lee, wrote: Men by their constitutions are naturally divided into two parties:
(1) Those that fear and distrust people, and wish to draw all powers from them into the hands of the higher classes.
(2) Those who identify themselves with the people, have confidence in them, cherish and consider them as the most honest and safe, although not the most wise depository of the public interests. In every country these two parties exist; and in every one where they are free to think, speak, and write, they will declare themselves."

As a third point, I hold certain views and if you would like me to share them I will. You ought to ensure someone doesn't have an opinion on something before announcing they have none. It's only responsible. It seems more likely that both of you think them irrelevant, which I gather from how you described me in your own posts.
Who are you addressing there (following the first sentence, obviously), anyway?
I was addressing you and sine.wav. If you'd like me to attack you or if it would be more "relevant" that I attack you, I could.

Ah, you might understand how I wouldn't realise that it was directed at us since the content of what you implied didn't match the positions, views, or feelings of sinewav or me. In other words, you addressed a straw man.

And besides, by your own reckoning, your opinions don't mean anything anyway. They aren't any truer, more valid, or more consequential than anyone else's, including mine. So....

than* :P

And, really, everyone? And, "better" in what respect? And what does that have to do with any conversation thus far, anyway?

This thread is fast approaching my eye roll quota for the week.

Hey, I said it was offtopic :o

And I don't know, everyone 18+ all of a sudden feels entitled to look down on us.

But I'm out of this thread, bye!

Similar to how much of what you ranted about me is untrue?

No, that's by your reckoning, straw man. I never said all beliefs are equal, I just said beliefs are all beliefs.

My opinion on 9/11.

I'ts a sad(possibly US government involved event) that is definitely an american(US) tragedy, but there are a lot of things worse than it that have happened.

Examples:
Natural disasters in the americas and over seas such as hurricanes, tsunamis, and earthquakes
Every war ever
The halocaust
Slavery and segregation
The never ending war on "terror" that started after the event

I'ts been 10 years. shit happens. people have had time to recover. People should think about the ones lost but it shouldn't be that big of a deal after 10 years.

How about the fact America has created this cancer called debt that's eating away at us.

I think we should worry about the next 10 years then the past 10 years.

How about how Bank Of America is about to lay off 30k jobs, wait.....yes you're thinking the same thing I am.

Weren't they bailed out? Yes. Did it help? Not for the 30k people who are about to lose their job, their income, their life.

(also here's some cookies for you, BOA received the largest amount when bailed out in 09)

Oh no you don't, you can't wriggle out of this one. You never said either of those things. If you did, you said them poorly because I can't find it anywhere. Here is another thing to consider: if everyone is misinterpreting your posts and has this impression that you are vague, relativistic, convoluted, and incidental; then maybe you should work on crafting better posts instead of dropping in stuff like this:

I mean, yeah, so what? In what context to the conversation at hand?

Now here comes one of those times where I find my myself saying something queer... You should probably take a lesson in writing from Liz.

Peter Sellers, great avatar. I recommend the move "The Party" with him starring.

Just saying, if you include the middle east, you certainly should include Africa, in areas such as Darfur.
