Feels like this whole thing was a waste of time. When you guys actually want a change, THEN ask people for their opinion, it's not fair to misrepresent your position like this.
Patience is a virtue, Possess it if you can, Seldom found in woman, Never found in man.
I played in the new WST tournament and felt it offered a very different experience to the original map. Me being me, first round I totally forgot we'd even changed the map and I was completely psyched out for 20 seconds.
But I think olive offers a very good point in the other WST discussion thread. The original is more tactical, whereas this new one is more scrambled and designed to suit the mazers more. Both are fun in different ways, and I don't think one should supercede the other! There are more than enough keen tronners to organise both tournaments (original map and new) so let's have both and welcome diversity!
The only negative point behind this could potentially be that the 'prestige' of both WST maps is lost or divided between the two (+ all the other sumo tournaments - TST, Solo sumo etc.). I heard some players on the grid saying that they "didn't care" who won and "CT didn't participate" because it wasn't a 'real' tournament.
I think this attitude is really silly, as there really is no difference between the ladle and any other competition that is hosted - you make a wiki page and get people involved. I appreciate that the ladle is considered more prestigious (myself included in this bracket) by the vast majority of this community, but I think that all players, teams and clans should all be encouraged to participate in as many competitions as they fancy. Not because they'll receive lots of respect from the rest of the community (as this encourages hierarchies within the tournaments), but because we all love tron and love playing tron!
I guess people who think a single vote is not enough for them will do other things to try and make the process seem illegitimate, like a boycott. So I don't really care if people didn't play it.
Disappointed that an important aspect of a tourney that's been going on for a while now has actually been tried to be decided by firstly, a poll of people that have 'tested it under tournament conditions' only, and after that flopped, a general forum poll?? Please..
You can save any 'we do all the organising and all you lot do is criticize' comments as well because I'm not too bothered, just concerned about a popular tournaments integrity
People don't have to play anything if they don't want to at the end of the day and everything that's needed is freely available if it's split. The aim should be to maximise participants though if there's to be any prestige
