Loose settings

Post by dukevin »

I was looking through the list of commands and was wondering if there were settings that would enforce loose game-play (stabs and digs can be passed through without having to dig deeper)

Is this possible with settings?
I was looking at settings such as
CYCLE_RUBBER_MINDISTANCE_GAP
CYCLE_RUBBER_MINADJUST
etc
but can't seem to make this happen.

Yes, you're on the right track. Try

Code: Select all

CYCLE_RUBBER_MINIDSTANCE 1
CYCLE_RUBBER_MINIDSTANCE_GAP .5
and large rubber to see the effect. Make a spiral and get out again. For actual gameplay, a smaller mindistance value would be recommended, around .1, I'd say.

i was trying this today and came here to ask about it..found this. tried it..but its glitchy for me. i was trying to incorporate it for hr. i have cycle_rubber_mindistance .1 cycle_rubber_mindistance_gap .5 and also added cycle_rubber_minadjust 0 so digging didnt matter. but its all just to glitchy, all the combinations ive tried. bummered out.

You need to be a little more specific.

I have tested this at the settings described. The "glitchiness" he is describing appears to be a natural side effect of CYCLE_RUBBER_MINDISTANCE_GAP. Naturally, this forces a gap, but this has the effect of not allowing people to do the sort of very tight traps and binds that they are used to doing. After having tested this extensively, and with a variety of adjustments and combinations of settings, I am convinced that it just doesn't quite work for the kind of gameplay that Loose Dogfight players expect. After the Ladle, I am going to experiment with rubber settings that will just allow you to tunnel and escape practically anything, as this seems to be a solution that would allow the type of gameplay that those who play Loose Dogfight really expect. Instead of the server settings forbidding stabs and seals, you will be able to escape them.
