I don't think so. They should, of course, since your country's foreign policy follows consumer demands for products.

Just a bit of news hot off the press for people that are curious whether psychosis is a result of cannabis use, or vice versa.

http://www.bmj.com/content/342/bmj.d738.full
Conclusion Cannabis use is a risk factor for the development of incident psychotic symptoms. Continued cannabis use might increase the risk for psychotic disorder by impacting on the persistence of symptoms.
Maybe it doesn't kill you if you overdose, but it can certainly affect your long term mental state. I've witnessed it in a lot of friends who were once good in school, and they dropped out to smoke, and stopped achieving anything, that was years ago and they still don't do anything with their lives.

Alcohol is not good for your body but at least it doesn't warp your mind.

Well, you people really misunderstand the whole psychosis thing. For instance, what you just described, neal, is paranoia, a well recognized side effect of THC ingestion.
psy·cho·sis
1. A mental disorder characterized by symptoms, such as delusions or hallucinations, that indicate impaired contact with reality.
2. Any severe form of mental disorder, as schizophrenia or paranoia.
What you all have described are temporary symptoms. A better example would be this. I grew up with a guy that was a friend that by the age of 13 was dealing to support his weed habit. I saw him about 3 years ago, this would be about 24 years after we had graduated. Although he went to jail instead of graduating. He had been clean for about 4 years, but was on psychiatric meds for schizophrenia, and mostly stable. He told me that he really didn't show symptoms of schizophrenia until he had been smoking weed for about 22 years. That is what finally got him to get help and to stay clean. Unfortunately, a rather brilliant mind that I knew as a kid is pretty much gone now. But, he is at least functional, while living on disability with his mom. Yeah, long term abuse can be pretty dangerous.

compguy, what i said was actually a psychosis case, he smoked but the smoking triggered the psychosis and he couldn't get rid of it; he has been hospitalized a few times, on meds for life likely.

I have psychosis (actual diagnosis is OCD with possible psychosis). I was very lucky where i am, with that diagnosis i was able to get into an Early Psychosis Prevention program which helped me cope and deal with the issues and thoughts goin on in my head. I havent needed to go back for therapy in at least a year and am considered one of the few success stories :P

this is where i met this particular fellow, and he really is ****** up because of weed. now mind you weed didnt really cause it, it triggered it, he likely was predisposed to getting it from one thing or another.

Thanks for clarifying. The way your post was worded seemed to indicate other than what you meant! Perhaps my post will help explain it to others.

That's still true, and can be generally assumed to be true for most Chinese factories. True of plenty other locations, as well. The US and the trade treaties to which it is a signatory don't require that other countries from whom we import goods abide by the same sorts of labor standards, or even basic human/civil rights standards, product safety regulations, or environmental standards that we require of our own. Unfortunately.

:D Here's a tip for school: If you are going to quote statistics, you need to cite a source. And, at least be consistent with your delivery. "From" and "related" are not the same. There certainly are deaths "from" marijuana (though it's nearly impossible to overdose on), and marijuana "related" deaths are pretty high actually.
If he's quoting statistics, he isn't the one to be responsible for the consistency in delivery (although it was his choice to quote the statistics from that source).
That made absolutely no sense.

The people who let marijuana control their lives are weak minded. Period.
I smoked for 2 years and very heavily during school, and work breaks and what not.
I recently became to understand that even though its decriminilised in my town, that if i were to get caught with it (as i'm almost 18 - adult in Australia) that it would ruin my job opportunities, and possibly send me to gaol.

Anyone who is even remotely cluey will know nothing is worth gaoltime, especially a 3-4 hour high.

Instead of smoking weed, go for a race pace 5k run. Getting high from running is 100% legal as far as I know!

Here you go: 230000 people in Mexico displaced because of drug gang wars (not the American war on drugs, in-fighting in Mexico).

when will people realize that not everything they take can be considered as enjoyment?.

many justify the usage of weed and they don't understand that weed has its side effects and so is alcohol i have had a very good experience with those before cause some of my buddies were either drug addicts or alcohol and it always ended bad for them .

Both types of drugs cause primarily mental problems you might not see it now but it will reveal itself in the future.

I would still say if someone wants to use alcohol or weed they must use it in small dozes and when it comes to drugs always people think they can control it , sooner or later it will get them

The sickest thing of all is how our "war on drugs" and the Mexican "drug wars" have much deliberate government corruption. In Mexico, in some cases, the Mexican government is pursuing drug enforcement actions against those dealers that are competition to the dealers that either pay appropriate bribes to the appropriate government officials. Of course, there are plenty of drug wars between competing drug lords as well, no denying that. As to the American Government's actions, why do you think we are in the War in Afghanistan? Many soldiers have come back to the USA to tell stories of protecting poppy fields, drug shipments, and yes, Taliban or Al-Queada (Al-Ciaduh) shipping the the poppies and product. Of course, it has been well known that our highly moral and ethical CIA has been involved in the drug trade to finance black ops since the Vietnam War. Ron Paul had it right when he recently spoke of the need to end the CIA! /endrant

You know this is a good point. A lot of young people don't realize how bad drugs and alcohol mess up your life when you are older. I didn't realize it either. When I was a kid I did drugs with my friends (though it was a short time and I was never really into it). It was inconsequential. But after I reached my 30's and noticed some of my friends were still "partying" I started to see how it was affecting their lives in ways they couldn't see. Some are now approaching 40 and have lost jobs and ruined close relationships because of drugs (even just weed). It's not pretty.

So I guess that's one of the most shocking things I discovered while growing up. Even if you drink and do drugs "occasionally" as a kid, if you continue to do them with the same frequency when you are older the risks are immeasurable.
