Armagetron Terminology
Re: Armagetron Terminology
You can't block a good center out with a single dig (even if it's 4.9) if he has enough space and time, which he will if you run the other way. That's just how it is. Try your ROD thing on Woned in a ladle if you want
Re: Armagetron Terminology
i didn't say that.
Re: Armagetron Terminology
I'm going to step in and say this "ROD" shouldn't be included in Armagetron terminology since it hasn't reached any level of community-wide popularity -- even the narrow Fortress community. I've never seen someone say "do a ROD" in a match, ever. And this same action already has several names associated with it, like regrind, adjust, and grind-correct.
I think you made the mistake of thinking "oh, this should have a name. maybe I'll make one up and post it!" It doesn't need a name.

Re: Armagetron Terminology
If anything the name ROD is more suited to Mazuffer's centre block, which incidentally doesn't have aproper name
Re: Armagetron Terminology
Nobody used the abbreviation NPH before I posted it here (because I was too lazy to explain it the whole time)sinewav wrote:I'm going to step in and say this "ROD" shouldn't be included in Armagetron terminology since it hasn't reached any level of community-wide popularity

You just proved my point.Word wrote:Nobody used the abbreviation NPH before I posted it here (because I was too lazy to explain it the whole time)
Sure, you posted the abbreviation of "No Point Hole" (wow, big contribution). But everyone had already been saying no-point-hole for some time, and people were certainly abbreviating it in-game before you posted, though it might not have been obvious.
But even if they weren't abbreviating it, you still can't explain this ROD crap. I mean, seriously, WTF does that even mean? A player can visualize these other terms. No-point-hole is obvious, you're working the game to create a hole without giving away points. Digging, stabbing, whatever -- it's easy to visualize the motion of your cycle digging into a wall.
Rapture of the deep? RAPTURE OF THE DEEP!? It doesn't describe anything!
Oh by the way, I wanted to add this new term I've been seeing in-game a lot:
WF = Word Fail.

I prefer outside corner grinding, it's one of the ranks on the forum too.

Agreed
Re: Armagetron Terminology
when shoebat first had the mazuffer block explained to him, he started calling it the "muffer", and that's what I'll continue to call it. ^^
Re: Armagetron Terminology
Muffer... that's pretty good.

What doesn't, out of context.
