G5's Pro Fortress: Shuffle or No Shuffle?
Re: G5's Pro Fortress: Shuffle or No Shuffle?
You can still shuffle down.
Re: G5's Pro Fortress: Shuffle or No Shuffle?
^ Agreed, moderators should be allowed to enforce it like that. As long as they can support their actions with proof in the logs.Gonzap wrote:As some1 said already there are enough moderators to take care of these situations. The way is simple, 1 round suspension as advice, 5 rounds second time
However, the last time this kind of thing happened the moderator's powers were removed (if only temporarily), and my impression was that it isn't the moderator's job to enforce polite shuffling.
With freedom comes responsibility. And sadly, the fortress community can't handle responsibility without moderation. (I think most of us can agree on that by now)
And the moderation won't work properly if the moderators are evaluated by stats (number of kicks, number of silences, number of suspensions) rather than independent situations.
In short; If you turn it back on, provide moderator guidelines as well and be ready to dig up logs when (not if) there are reports/arguments.
tbh I'm not sure if it's worth it.
The current shuffling system hasn't been a problem to me. It seems like bad centers or wings are vote-suspended by the majority anyway. Democracy is slower than anarchy, but it has good sides too.

I know what will solve all your problems:
I can shuffle poker chips, too, if that helps.Re: G5's Pro Fortress: Shuffle or No Shuffle?
Those things ruined knowledgable casual play of blackjack. Makes it more casino friendly, as it is impossible to keep track of 4 decks.

You're confusing the above auto-shuffler with a dealer's shoe.
Anyway, if the above doesn't solve youse' problems, then maybe Bob & Earl can: Harlem Shuffle

I know at least a couple of newer players have benefited from no shuffling up as they have had time to practice what to do in a certain position
The argument of allowing shuffling up because noobs ruin gameplay is a good one but ultimately selfish & nulled by pickup matches and moderation if the player doesn't learn & shuffle down when asked
Right now it's fair and any issue where someone needs to shuffle down is much easier to resolve than an argument about shuffling up
Few years ago the only shuffle wars were people not wanting position 1

Just thought I'd put this here because it's a good question and on-topic.sinewav wrote:That's a good question and depends on the situation. If the whole team wants you out, regardless of your ability, I think it's fair to say they have the right to /vote you out. And if that vote fails, as votes sometimes do, I could see a good reason for a moderator to suspend that person. It's their judgment. If you want to appeal, you always have that option. But not here of course.ElmosWorld wrote:Does suspending someone because they won't shuffle from center even when its covered count as an abuse of powers?![]()
suspending != kicking != banning
Re: G5's Pro Fortress: Shuffle or No Shuffle?
i "abused" my mod rights in G5 when i suspended someone for teamkilling me, so yeah...it's important who you suspend

From what I've seen and experienced, it's also important to not automatically, reflexively jump to the conclusion that someone deliberately "team killed" you, especially when it's a newer player.
Re: G5's Pro Fortress: Shuffle or No Shuffle?
It was Lizmatic.
(and of course she keeps saying she didn't do it deliberately)
this doesn't mean your argument is less truthfull now.

The poll function is broken so I removed it.
Re: G5's Pro Fortress: Shuffle or No Shuffle?
yeah but it seems to me as if there are only one or two people who didn't support it...and there are no changes yet.
