pretty sensible in my opinion. If you started discussing illegal activities on there, teamspeak don't want to be brought down by that.

Obviously they wouldn't be brought down by that. What's illegal is illegal, regardless of contracts. Anyhow, you're ignoring all the points I specifically mentioned. They're not just covering their butt, they're demanding you give up rights.syllabear wrote:Most of those look like they are just covering their own @ss..

I have an old tin can and some string, if anyone else out there has a tin can for the other end. (Must be real tinplate, not aluminum.) Totally free, in all respects.

How about Ventrilo?
Right now you can freely host an 8 person slot vent.
If anything, I'm sure you could find someone to host a 32 slot ventrilo server, they're cheap and ventrilo is really easy on your computer

Another person who doesn't understand what "free" means? By definition, a limit of 8 slots is non-free. In this case, however, the technicalities are slightly different... Ventrilo merely bundles an "End User License Agreement" (EULA) in the download which they expect you to agree to. However, they do not require you to agree to it before actually downloading. You are therefore under no obligation to agree to the EULA at all (at least in some jurisdictions), and can simply ignore it so long as you do not wish to make (non-backup) copies of the software (which the EULA probably forbids, rather than allows, anyway). On top of that, they don't include source code, and only distribute Mac and Windows binaries. In case you haven't noticed, all Armagetron developers use Linux.Cody <3 wrote:How about Ventrilo?

Also, none of these (except maybe Skype?) allow conferencing in from a normal phone. Behind the scenes, our US/UK numbers really just redirect to a SIP conference I have setup. I haven't published the SIP address mainly because it is liable to change in the future, but if there is demand for IP calls, I could publish it or perhaps setup an ENUM DNS record pointing to it.
