Classic Armagetron Tournament Series
I was wondering if there would be any support for me to organize a tournament in March-May.
The tournament would be using tron server default values. When you download the server, you add or change no settings. Basically LMS with 1 rubber.
Wondering if anyone would be interested in joining that tourney if I were to organize it March 2011-May 2011.
P.S. Also a twist could be added to make it 4 teams of 3 or something like that but I think it would be a cool tournament with just the default tron settings.

Re: Default Tron Tournament
BTC? BitCoins? Hmm...a prize like that is a nice addition.
I was thinking maybe 12 people to a server to 1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1 in one server where the top 4 move on to the next round with default scoring and settings like displayed in a local game...unless it would be benifitial to change up the scoring: but it is a Default Tron Tournament.
I guess it is worth a try. Get a tourney to show what tron was at the begining before all the added jazz was here...Phytotron should sign up for this tourney.

TBC, TonalBitCoin. 40 TBC is by definition exactly 0.04194304 BTC.INW wrote:BTC? BitCoins? Hmm...a prize like that is a nice addition.
Re: Default Tron Tournament
I like the default settings. I would play for sure. And maybe the title of the tournament should specify the version you are taking the default settings from, since they are different from one another.

Re: Default Tron Tournament
So it could be called LMS Tournament?
It uses this map:
Z-Man: Is there a way to upload the settings in the default local game?
P.S. One change that might occur is to
It uses this map:
Code: Select all
MAP_FILE Anonymous/polygon/regular/square-1.0.1.aamap.xml
P.S. One change that might occur is
Code: Select all
walls_length 5000 (Default value)
Code: Select all
walls_length x (Where x is the "perfect" value)
Re: Default Tron Tournament
Sure. Umm, just concatenate settings.cfg and settings_dedicated.cfg as found in the distribution? It gets a bit long, but you can cut away the comments.INW wrote:Z-Man: Is there a way to upload the settings in the default local game?

About how many bitcoins does one of your servers cost?Luke-Jr wrote:I'll donate 40 TBC toward first prize.

Re: Default Tron Tournament
Hosting is priced in mill-TonalBitCoin (1 ᵐTBC = 0x1000 TBC), or decimal BitCoin:Magic wrote:About how many bitcoins does one of your servers cost?Luke-Jr wrote:I'll donate 40 TBC toward first prize.
http://lightfoot.dashjr.org/?page=armag ... rrency=TBC
http://lightfoot.dashjr.org/?page=armag ... rrency=BTC
Or if you're interested in a bare shell or VPS to set it up yourself, you can go a bit cheaper:
http://lightfoot.dashjr.org/?page=vps¤cy=TBC
http://lightfoot.dashjr.org/?page=vps¤cy=BTC
But this is getting off-topic here.
P.S. FWIW, that 40 TBC is not a decimal number, as TBC is Tonal. The tonal number 40 is, in decimal, 64. So that's 64 (deci) TBC (0x10000 uBTC) = 4,194,304 uBTC = 0.04194304 BTC
Re: Default Tron Tournament
What? You're making that up, admit it.Luke-Jr wrote:P.S. FWIW, that 40 TBC is not a decimal number, as TBC is Tonal. The tonal number 40 is, in decimal, 64. So that's 64 (deci) TBC (0x10000 uBTC) = 4,194,304 uBTC = 0.04194304 BTC

No need for the change.INW wrote: P.S. One change that might occur istoCode: Select all

I will donate 5,000gp (Runescape currency) to the winner as well.
And of course, I'm up for this kind of tournament.

Re: Default Tron Tournament
I looked at the commands that were spit out at the beginning of the round and got some settings.
But does an rinclude need to be created with the settings? Isn't TALK_TO_MASTER and SERVER_NAME plus the USER_LEVELS the only commands needed for the servers to all be the same since they should all have default settings?
If anyone is wondering, the default scoring works like this:
Notice the limit time is 30 minutes. This means every match will last a maximum of 30 minutes unless there is a tie. That shoul dkeep the tourney moving. This of course is the default setting.
You think those should be changed? But then again the tourney wouldn't be 100% default would it?
