You need the version that was current stable at the time of the ladle, and precisely that one. 0.2.8.3.1 would it be. And those are debug recordings; if they don't work, they don't work.

Open the recording AND DO NOT DO ANYTHING. If after about a minute nothing has happened then you need to do something else, but I can't remember what :P

there's a ton of different things you can try. Usually, you can get them working eventually. I have a version that I use only for recordings, and something I did (I wish I could say exactly what, but even then it might differ from computer to computer) made it work. Just keep tinkering with things, it's possible. It's kinda fun too.

On another note, could someone point me to the previous version of armagetron, I can't seem to find it (I haven't looked extensively, but long enough I'm not embarrassed asking). Thanks

Which previous version?

Most of the old versions are here: http://beta.armagetronad.net/

And some discussion of it here: http://forums3.armagetronad.net/viewtop ... 41&t=19777

the last release before 2.8.2.3. I was around for it, but can't remember the name, was it 2.8.2.1? .0? .2?

It was .2.8.2.2, which was of course preceded by .2.8.2.1 if you are thinking in terms of stable releases.
