As for Phyto: Yeah, alcohol is pretty much worse than most drugs that are illegal. But for cultural reasons, i.e. its been drunk for so long, any attempts at preventing its furthered use (prohibition being a prime example) just fail. I know the effects of alcohol first hand... banging headache this morning lol.

And yeah it would probably be better if we legalised weed... but we don't know for sure if it would. Governments don't want to take that risks, so its simple: people shouldn't do it. If you don't want to be raped/murdered/stolen from, you should abide by the law. Since otherwise, what right do you have for protection from it?

Not exactly sure if I agree with that, but it's your opinion. There are much worse, sometimes permanent, side effects of other illegal drugs.

Have to agree there. My hypothesis would be that weed usage would skyrocket, but in the end, it would level out. Eventually, the "newness" would wear off and it would be more of an occasional, social thing with friends. For some of the younger weed users, i feel like its just a form of rebellion (which they're already high on). If it was regulated from the start, i think it could be good.

p.s. I'm not naive enough to believe that regulation would stop underage mary jane purchases. TONS of people buy things when they are underage from either a lenient store or friend.

Alcohol is the best thing to get the mood relaxed and having a good time, I agree some people don't know how to handle their liquor and they shouldn't drink, but don't write alcohol off like we're back in middle school where they try to teach us that these "Substances and Sex" are so horrible that you'll die.

My main thing is just to be responsible if you do any drug or anything that involves your health. Its no biggie if you wanna smoke with your friends and try and play a game and fail and lol irl.

Currently when you buy weed it isn't taxed.

35.8 billion dollars.

That exceeds the combined value of corn ($23.3 billion) and wheat ($7.5 billion).

If weed was legal, I'm sure it would be taxed, and think about all that lovely extra tax money :>

just fyi cody, the damage alcohol does to the body is extreme. I'm mainly talking about its effects during binge drinking, but over-drinking and other problems it causes (social disharmony, drink-driving accidents).

As you can see heroin is nice and bad for you, but alcohol is quite surprisingly high in a medium level!

Still, a drink every once in a while will not hurt most people, but its always possible to go too far.

It's your right to do to your body what you wish, but when what you do affects others negatively then everyone (especially those who are affected but uninvolved), have the right to protect themselves from you.

That being said, the main argument I have against marijuana, alcohol ,etc. is not compassion for the health of those who drugs, but for health and welfare of the uninvolved and the healthcare systems it negatively impacts. This is regardless of the profits the government can gain from taxing it - that's basically unjustly putting a price tag on the lives of the negatively affected.

Alcohol-related deaths, crime, injuries, health problems, accidents, etc. weigh much heavier on society than recreational marijuana use. It disgusts me how alcohol is abused. Marijuana simply doesn't have the same effects. Source of good information to back these last statements up.

But i don't mean problems like diseases heart atks or something like that, not problems that will come earlier cause of smoking. I mean the problem of being lonely for example, your wife dies, your generation is dying, your friends are dying, you can't go alone shopping, you need help for everything. I prefer to die and not to go in an "old home".

Well, my grandma is 89 years old, yes she has some health problems, but she would like to live 20 years more for watching my son growing at her syde. I think if you really have a good life you never will feel lonely.
My grandfather. He died of lung cancer 15 years ago. I remember when i went to visit him and i found him crying in the floor. Crying of pain. 3 days after died. He smoked 20 cigarettes everyday. Maybe smoking killed him, maybe not. I almost sure did it. He couldn´t stop to smoke. He won´t see my son growing. If he could choose now, sure he wouldn´t start to smoke at 15 years old.
As johnatan said, smoking is like a dice game.

Apart of this, it's better 1 joint at month than 20 cigarettes; but this is a game too. You don't know if your body and your mind will be enough hard for not becoming an addict.
I saw a lot of people smoking only 1 joint from time to time and nothing more. And i know 1 girl that started with joints, then cocaine, then heroine, and now she lives in the street, her daughter (4 years old) doesn´t love her, she sell her body for heroine. Sad. Just a dice game.

They legalized marijuana for medical use only in some states. Not smoking the drug on the street.
