Windows 7 problems

Post by inVacua »

Hey,
just installed Windows 7 and have some problems with arma. The game starts to lag and is pushing me arround, killing me. I can watch the game fluently in spectator and the fps are good too. Anyone an suggestions ?

The problem only occours when i deactivate vsync, if i turn it on i have problems with the response of my movements.

I tried some compatibility options and they have no effect at all.
The latest nvidia driver is installed.

try to play around with the nvidia setup, i got 300 more fps by changing the performance/quality settings.
even if your fps are ok, this could be a reason for the lag.

Hmm, odd. Try this: In Arma, go to "System Settings/Display Settings/Performance Tweaks" and turn "Swap Mode" to "Finish". Report back what happens both with vsync enabled and disabled.

I've tried a lot of stuff(I'd like to say everything, but I know that's not true), and I've come to the conclusion that tron doesn't like windows 7, or the other way around.

No. I didn't install any drivers then I tried playing it, 10 - 20 fps. Then I installed all the drivers, 40 - 60 fps at good times. I have a really good gaming computer, so I doubt its that. It works perfectly fine on games like tf2 and bioshock. I've just given up and dual booted xp and it works fine.

I just upgraded 1.5 weeks ago. I'm even using the NVidia drivers that come over Windows Update. No tron problems at all. Now, the 64 bit edition may be different, but I'm not installing that right now because I'd like to keep the glimmer of hope I'll get my gameport to work alive. Plus, I "only" have 2 GB of memory, so there's not much of a point.

No problems here either (Win 7 64bit) anymore, in my case the problem was the gfx driver.

Tried, feels different but the same issue.

Didn't change anything.

I have win 7 32bit here.

Which client version are you using? It may be the problem with the old timer code and multicore CPUs (mostly AMDs) that kind of looks like lag. 0.2.8.3.1 shouldn't have the problem.

0.3.0 would be affected by the timer problem, but not epsy's build. I'm out of ideas, sorry. It still sounds like the 'frames rendered ahead' problem, which "Flush" should prevent, according to specs. You have set the "Maximum prerendered frames" to zero in the NVidia control panel, right?

Push!
Sry for the double post.
So I played a long time without any problems, the lag simplay vanished after I tried so many things. And now its back again. I have big lag slides all the time on wildcat and norms - the classic server. On evaldusias sumo server everything is fine. So where could the problem be located. I conntacted my provider to check my line, they said the signal-to-noise ratio isn't ok. They came yesterday and checked everything, but its still lagging.
