I dont know much at all about creating images but i suppose the first tip (if they know what tools you use) would be to use a better package than paintshop pro 3.

I have Photoshop/Image Ready CS. I would glady burn you a copy . If your system can take it that is. lol

Thanks u so much!!!

Ok. So. What are my tips..

1/ Be patient.
2/ Do the minimum, too much effects, kills effect
3/ Take a break
4/ Stay Cool, erase all and restart
5/ Everytime asking to yourself: Why did i do that?
6/ Be patient. Look around what other peoples are doing, be curious.
7/ Bring complexity step by step to your project.
8/ Never satisfy by yourself.

That's not a joke, it's what i do.

Now to learn software, i'm lgonna take a look for sites who can teach you some incredible things.

For me, it's a long experience (i'm 30, and i work on 3dsmax and Photoshop since i'm 19), and i'm designer (interior architect) in real life (furniture, cosmetics, objects...). I'm using Photoshop CS (but 5-6-7 are great too)

I gonna search for site and i post them here.

The sexylosers guy draws his comics on paper and then scans them. The process goes something like this:

1. Draw in pencil
2. Erase, make corrections
3. Ink over the drawing (at this time the drawing is still black and white)
4. Erase all pencil marks
5. Scan it
6. Color it in (he used to use the GIMP for it, but then someone sent him a copy of Illustrator, now he uses that, iirc)

I used a similar procedure to make some drawings for my last psychology paper and was really impressed with the results. I'm not much of an artist, really, so I was naturally very impressed with my cartoony drawing. Of course, I didn't buy the expensive paper the comic guy uses, I just used regular copy paper, a regular pencil, and a ball point pen.

You can also get Linux working on your pc (don't know if you are already) and buy the fancy little pencil especially made for artwork...

I used a wacom tablet (the smallest one) with a pen etc... (still have it but never use the pen, when I can afford it I'll buy a really good mouse instead). The bigger ones are probably a lot better but I've found myself that using a mouse is actually a lot better for me (I drew my avatar using mouse only for example) and all this even though I've drawn tons of stuff for years (and still do) using pen and pencil.

As for scanning drawings that can work well but it removes a lot of the flexibility of using a computer imo (and you need a high quality drawing as well as scanner or you're only making more work for yourself).

Its no surprise he switched from Gimp to Illustrator. I'm a big fan of Gimp but sadly Gimp is still not up to the level of Adobes products: you can do most of the same stuff but the time it takes to do it in Gimp is a lot longer and Adobe documentation (both official and unofficial) is incredibly good while Gimp doesn't have more than a sketch of a manual. That said a few things are actually better in Gimp.

Ya Luna has a Wacom also, has gone through 3 pens already. She applies
a little to much pressure on the pen while using it. Luna likes to draw with pencil alot then she scans the work and refines it with Photoshop. She has gotten very good doing that.
Luna tried Gimp but did not care for it.
