Guys i am going to use one of the most popular trading card games on the planet as an example.

In the world of Yugioh, cards come out every now and then. Of course these cards are put through test and run through scenarios so they don't conflict with rules of the game and aren't too powerful. Powerful being they end the game too soon or cause way too much impact on the duel.So therefore after testing, the card is released. But with so many players out there. There are people who figure out what the card can do. They figure out combination's with that card and other cards that cause the game to be unfair. Then that is where Konami (Yugioh's Offcial Trading Card Company) Must take action by banning, limiting or semi limiting the card.

What i am basically saying is what Flex did is totally unfair. It did give their clan an advantage at being able to change over and switch who they face and what part of the bracket they get to be in. BUT, there is no rule against it. So all he did was discover a flaw in the system. So if there isn't a rule against it, we can't punish him. All we really can do is make a rule so it can't happen again.

Don't see Konami punishing duelists for discovering strategies that make duels totally one sided. And yes this is a fair comparison because Konami has tournaments and at these tournaments you can receive great prizes and even cards worth 1,300 dollars and more.

Sorry for long post i felt talkative this morning :D

This isn't really true. The problem is interpretation of the rules and their intent. Sure we can make the Ladle guidelines read like a legal document if that's what everyone wants - or we can use some common sense (I hear it really doesn't exist, so maybe not).

Right now, Flex is abusing the rule that says "changes to the team roster can happen at any time, however, the cut off for the provisional placement of teams is 18:00 GMT on Thursday before the event." This rule is there because teams sometimes have a hard time finding players, and might want to pick up some random people on Ladle day. Does Speeders Clan have a hard time finding players for Ladle? I think not, they registered two teams.

Notice how I made the distinction between the Clan "Speeders" and their two teams. This will be important when you read my following interpretation:

First, Flex made an edit to Orion's team "SPD". No player should be editing another team's entry. In fact, Flex added Orion's team in the first place along with his team "Speeders" ( 23:47, 25 July 2010). As we saw earlier with Lizmatic, this is totally inappropriate. Flex is the captain of 2 teams now?

Then, after the brackets were randomized, Flex removed the team "SPD" (comprised of 6 players: Psy, Magic, Sasha, Cyclo, Oblivion, and MB53) and signed them up in a different slot with the name "Speeders". Then suddenly, we have a new team on the Challenge Board (after the cutoff) with the name "SPD" and it has all new players - and a new captain? Wait, Flex added this team too, so now he is captain of 3 teams!? WTF!?

Oh yes, there are definitely rules broken. And just because these guys are all in the same clan, that doesn't mean their teams are interchangeable. That's like saying IB and PRU can change places because they all play in G5's Mega Fort together and they like each other... Hey wait! What a good idea.

;) Also, thanks dubs.

Sinewav is right, it is more an interpretation of the rules.

Well that usually happens to friendly competitions and bets and so forth. Like two people say if you do this i will give you this. So the person does it but then the other person says i didn't say how long you had to do it for...KEEP GOING.

Well hopefully all this can be solved peacefully. Looks like liz is right in saying this ladle is more like "who will be banned from next ladle" thing.

Who we [are/would be] up against doesn't matter, we just respect the ladle enough not to poop on it and the people who organize this event.

random brackets are random

Thx for clearing things up sine. I was sure there'd be something like that in the rules/guidelines.

Good post sine. In my opinion, SP just cut off their nose - if they win, people will say it was because they abused the rules. Nevertheless, all of this just took out a lot of fun of the tournament and I fear that people will remind this ladle because their was drama and not because XYZ won it.

Hey sine, don't compare what I did to what speeders did. All I did was sign up the open team which is a good thing! and then sign up some people who didn't know how to do it by themselves, I didn't alter the challenge board in any way. Now, I shouldn't sign up other teams anymore and I won't, but this wasn't done to cause trouble. It was done to have more teams play.. which is what we all want, right. :)

Ok. Sorry Lizmatic. The comparison was convenient.

Flex wrote: Some intense claims here! Exactly when did I add players to that team when I signed up? Exactly what players have I switched? Exactly which players have played for any teams so far? I won't be replying till you quote me on where it says in the guidelines that I can't do this. I've written some of the guidelines myself and I even pushed for some things to be added so next time you want to complain, don't bend rules yourself.
Well i guess you can make the argument that switching an entire team to another team so you can play a certain team you want to play, the day of the ladle, isn't against the rules. You signing up 2 teams neither of which you are captain of is against the rules. So I guess we get another voting thread this month for new rules and guidelines, plus one about whether to punish you for breaking the rules(which has now been implemented, but i doubt it will go that far). Then wait a month for some one else to screw with it and have another voting/argument thread.

Remember when everyone just signed up to play, played, then said congrats to the winner? No? Me either.

http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php? ... Guidelines First sentence under stage 2 is the rule I'm talking about.
You've gone too far, turn back!

Had some really nice matches with Plus+ today, good job everyone on the team. We had a great comeback! Beat a very tough open team 2-0 and then very close matches with Speeders.

Just wondering, SP, why do you always have to stir trouble? Always these little side comments with the "WHY 532 SWEEPERS LOL".

Anyway, I still had fun, so thanks and gm's.
