Well, suffice it to say, i put one in Australia. Check out the server list on the Ladle Challenge Board. I added a "Other Continents" category, and a Ladle server Listed in Australia. This is the first Aussie server I am putting up. I have set it to Team_Max_Players 8. It has been tested, and shows stable pings. I have been waiting about 6 months for a deal on a small, but sufficient server, and got one last night!Luke-jr said wrote:Maybe we should just put a server in Australia and have teams fight it out there

If there is a predominantly Aussie team they definitely deserve to play a Ladle match in that server.

Re: A new America VS Europe Challenge
That was the idea....there seem to be enough Aussies playing fortress and sumo lately, we could grow the community by getting them to play. Last night, after I got the ladle server up, it was used for about 1.5 hours of play or so.....DDMJ wrote:If there is a predominantly Aussie team they definitely deserve to play a Ladle match in that server.
I do have some ideas for tournaments that could really use an Aussie server or 2 to make them unique!

Re: A new America VS Europe Challenge
The pings are still going to be about 150-200 for US and 200-250 for Europe (so potentially 100 difference).
But when I'm back in HK thats gonna be a great server to play in

More like 275-320 in testing from players and my servers that are spread all around America and Europe, and players as well. Here is a current list of TSP Servers, by domain name.

Re: A new America VS Europe Challenge
OK, yes
It may be a bit more fair than just having half the rounds played in Europe and half in North America (I'm not sure how it is but anyways...)
No one... and I mean no one is going to enjoy a 2 hour lag off with a server 5000 miles from where each of them are. It simply isn't fun at all when you're sliding for every turn you make, regardless if everyone else is doing it too, especially when you could just experience minimal lag with a simple switch off midway.

Well, i would challenge you to play there...
Great players do not have that much problem with lag!

That's not what corn is talking about though. By having three matches in each server, we can have less lag overall, AND the game will be just as fair as having a game in an Australian server.compguygene wrote:Well, i would challenge you to play there...

Because we all agree that having less lag makes games better, I don't see any reason why an Aussie server should be used.

Re: A new America VS Europe Challenge
My experience has shown that Europeans and Americans tend to lag roughly equivalent in an Aussie server. The only people that have an advatage are the Aussies. My real challenge to you is this, can you handle playing fortress with a ping between 250-320? I can, and I am not really all that skilled compared to all of you!
I really think that if you continue down this path of alternating European and American Servers, you will generally end up with a tie. All I am asking, is this. Have 3 rounds in my Aussie server and see who wins!
Why is the idea of playing Fortress in an Aussie server so abhorent? Aussies play in Euro and American servers with these kind of pings and do ok. Are you saying that you are not as skilled as the few decent Aussie players? All I am challenging the 2 teams to do is have 3 rounds, one time.....

Re: A new America VS Europe Challenge
Try 380-400 (that's what I get in your server). Considering that my traceroute goes through USA I would be very surprised if I didn't lag more than Americans.compguygene wrote:My experience has shown that Europeans and Americans tend to lag roughly equivalent in an Aussie server. It's not about winning, it's about playing high quality games (imho at least). Playing with higher pings lower the quality of the game since you have to play less aggressive.I really think that if you continue down this path of alternating European and American Servers, you will generally end up with a tie. winner of: Spoon, 3rd, 6th, 9th, 11th, 18th, 19th, 33rd, 34th and 48th Ladle.

Re: A new America VS Europe Challenge
You spelled Australia wrong on the ladle wiki and you put (US) behind it for some reason.
Re: A new America VS Europe Challenge
Europeans do have a slightly higher ping than Americans, I say slightly but it was around 100 more maybe
It was fun to go and test there but I don't think I'll be playing in an aussie server again anytime soon
Although it was quite funny to regrind at the start and trust that you're actually not going to tk
